Vascular complications in patients with glioma most commonly include venous and arterial thromboembolism; however, treatment-induced vasculopathies are also problematic, especially in long-term survivors. Long-term hormone therapy for perimenopausal and postmenopausal women.
CONCLUSIONS: Women with intolerable menopausal symptoms may wish to weigh the benefits of symptom relief against the small absolute risk of harm arising from short-term use of low-dose HT, provided they do not have specific contraindications. HT may be unsuitable for some women, including those at increased risk of cardiovascular disease, increased risk of thromboembolic disease (such as those with obesity or a history of venous thrombosis) or increased risk of some types of cancer (such as breast cancer, in women with a uterus). Estrogen alone and health outcomes in black women by African ancestry: a secondary analyses of a randomized controlled trial
Conclusions: In black postmenopausal women with prior hysterectomy, estrogen alone significantly reduced breast cancer incidence with no adverse influence on CHD, venous thromboembolism, or all-cause mortality. Favorable estrogen-alone global index effects in younger black women warrant further study.

Conclusion: We review thyroid gland physiology and describe a systemic overview of potential false positive and false negative lack of uptake of radioiodine in the whole body along with illustrations and cases. By understanding the physiology and characteristics of radioiodine uptake and correlating with anatomical imaging, biochemical data, and clinical findings, physicians can be more confident in establishing proper management for patients with DTC using radioiodine whole body scans. Anticoagulation prescribing patterns in patients with cancer
The objective of this retrospective cohort was to describe real-world anticoagulation prescribing patterns in cancer patients at a large academic medical center between January 1, 2013 and October 31, 2016. We sought to assess the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of DOACs in patients with cancer for either VTE and/or AF. Patient demographic, clinical characteristics, as well as bleeding and thrombotic events were collected. Plasma Metal Concentrations and Incident Coronary Heart Disease in Chinese Adults: The Dongfeng-Tongji Cohort
Conclusions:

Efficacy and Safety of Rivaroxaban versus Warfarin in Patients with Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation and a History of Cancer: Observations from ROCKET AF.
Conclusion: In ROCKET AF, a history of cancer was associated with a higher risk of bleeding and non-cardiovascular death, but not ischemic events. The relative efficacy and safety of rivaroxaban compared with warfarin were not significantly different in patients with and without a history of cancer. The results of this study are exploratory and should be taken in context of the study population, which may not be generalizable to those with advanced malignancy. Further investigation is needed to understand optimal anticoagulation strategies in patients with AF and cancer.

Factors Associated with Prolonged Survival in Left Ventricular Assist Device Recipients
ConclusionsPreoperative diabetes and amiodarone use were associated with poor long-term survival in LVAD recipients. Development of early complications of stroke, gastrointestinal bleeding, hemolysis, or pump thrombosis was also associated with poor long-term survival. Early diagnosis and treatment of these complications may improve survival in LVAD recipients.

The Clinical Significance of Fibrin Monomers.
CONCLUSION: Utilizing FM concentrations to assess hyper-coagulable patients seems promising; however, there are limitations including variations in FM cut-off values, the effect of patient medications and the timing of FM measurement relative to an acute event. Thus, further investigation is required before a true advantage for FM as a haemostatic marker can be established.
