IJERPH, Vol. 17, Pages 5237: Cross-Sectional Analysis of the Association between Periodontitis and Cardiovascular Disease Using the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study Data
oi Hong This cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate the association between periodontitis and cardiovascular disease (CVD) by reviewing and discussing the role of the oral microbiome in periodontitis and CVD. This prospective cohort study used epidemiological data from the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study from 2004 to 2016. We selected 9973 patients with periodontitis and 125,304 controls (non-periodontitis) from 173,209 participants and analyzed their medical histories to determine the relationship between cerebral stroke/ischemic heart disease and periodontitis. The participants were questioned about any prev...

Protective Effects of Antioxidant Polyphenols Against Hyperglycemia ‐Mediated Alterations in Cerebral Endothelial Cells and a Mouse Stroke Model
ConclusionPolyphenols protected against hyperglycemia ‐mediated alterations in cerebral endothelial cells and a mouse stroke model. It will be relevant to assess polyphenol‐based strategies to improve cerebrovascular damage and stroke recovery during diabetes. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved

Nutrition program selection in acute ischemic stroke patients with GI hemorrhage.
CONCLUSIONS: This study showed that moderate feeding had a much more profound effect on the outcomes than trophic feeding and supplemental parenteral nutrition, as it was associated with lower mortality, higher GCS score at discharge, and higher GOS score 3 months after discharge. What Are Some Risk Factors for Cerebral Palsy?
Discussion The term, cerebral palsy, or CP has gone through many iterations with the first description in 1861 by W.J. Little who described it as “The condition of spastic rigidity of the limbs of newborn children.” The most recent definition is from Rosenbaun et al. in 2007 which states it is “a group of permanent disorders of the development of movement and posture, causing activity limitation, that are attributed to non-progressive disturbances that occurred in the developing fetal or infant brain. The motor disorders of cerebral palsy are often accompanied by disturbances of sensation, perception, cog...

Race, Socioeconomic Status, and Gastrostomy after Spontaneous Intracerebral Hemorrhage
Introduction: Spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage is a disabling form of stroke, and some patients will require nutritional interventions for dysphagia. We sought to determine if socioeconomic status indicators mediate whether minorities undergo gastrostomy tube placement. Materials and Methods: Patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage were enrolled in a single center, observational cohort study from 2010 to 2017. A socioeconomic index score was imputed using neighborhood characteristics by patients ’ ZIP code, according to an established method utilizing 6 indicators of wealth/income, education, and occupation.

IJERPH, Vol. 16, Pages 3582: Overview of Meta-Analyses: The Impact of Dietary Lifestyle on Stroke Risk
The objective of our work is to present an overview of meta-analyses that have investigated the impact of different foods and/or drinks in relationship with the risk of stroke events (ischemic/hemorrhagic). The papers to be included in the overview were found in MEDLINE, EMBASE, Scopus, Clinicaltrials.gov, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library and were selected according to the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) flow chart. Quality assessment were made according to the AMSTAR 2 scale. This overview shows that all primary studies came from countries with high income levels. This evide...

Relationship between adherence to the Mediterranean Diet, intracerebral hemorrhage, and its location
DiscussionOur findings regarding the higher prevalence of ICH in patients with lower adherence to MeDi may be related to the fact that patients with lower MeDi Score exhibit a worse cardiovascular risk profile with increased risk factors such as hypertension and dyslipidemia.
