Paradoxical Cerebral Air Embolism after Cardiac Ablation in Williams-Beuren Syndrome: A Clinico-Pathological Correlation
We describe the abrupt onset of neurological deterioration in a 53-year-old man with Williams-Beuren syndrome, a sporadically occurring genetic disorder caused by chromosomal microdeletion at 7q11.23. The clinical phenotype of Williams-Beuren syndrome is suggested by distinctive elfin facies, limited intellect, unique personality features, growth abnormalities, and endocrinopathies.

Stroke Incidence in Survivors of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning in South Korea: A Population-Based Longitudinal Study.
CONCLUSIONS CO poisoning is a high-risk factor for the development of stroke, evidenced by high incidences of stroke after CO poisoning. Practical strategies for preventing stroke after CO poisoning are needed, because stroke after CO poisoning affects adults of almost all ages, significantly increasing their socioeconomic burden.

Development of a new GC –MS/MS method for the determination of metformin in human hair
In this study the authors have developed a GC/MS–MS method for the detection and the quantification of metformin in human hair and have applied it to patients under treatment. Measured concentrations range from 0.3 to 3.8 ng/mg. Me tformin appears to be poorly incorporated into hair, given a daily dose of 1 to 3 g. ConclusionPresence of a proximal bystander during an overdose event is associated with dispatch codes indicative of an overdose and shorter times to naloxone administration compared with those with distal bystanders. These findings offer opportunities for public education and engagement of overdose harm reduction strategies.

Imaging methods used in the assessment of environmental disease networks: a brief review for clinicians
ConclusionsEnvironmental epidemiology has revealed that several organs and systems in the human body are targets of air pollutants. Current imaging methods that can assess the deleterious effects of pollutants includes a whole spectrum: radiography, US, CT and MRI. I tried to kill my father for years. To be fair, I was following his wishes. He’d made it clear that when he no longer recognized me, when he could no longer talk, when the nurses started treating him like a toddler, he didn’t want to live any longer.
My father was 58 years old when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. He took the diagnosis with the self-deprecating humor he’d spent a lifetime cultivating, constantly cracking jokes about how he would one day turn into a zombie, a walking corpse. We had a good 10 years with him after the diagnosis. Eventually, his jokes came true.
