Increased Stroke Risk in Metabolically Abnormal Normal Weight: a 10-Year Follow-up of 102,037 Participants in China
AbstractThe purpose of this study was to investigate the risks of stroke in subjects with metabolically abnormal normal weight (MANW) in China. We recruited 102,037 participants from the Zhejiang Metabolic Syndrome Cohort and the Kailuan cohort. The mean years of follow-up were 9.9  years. General obesity was defined by body mass index (BMI) ≥ 28, overweight by BMI <  28 and ≥ 24, and normal weight by BMI <  24 and ≥ 18.5. Associations between metabolic syndrome and anthropogenic heat emissions in northeastern China
CONCLUSIONS: Our novel findings reveal that AE are positively associated with MetS and that associations are modified by age. Further investigations into the mechanisms of the effects are needed.PMID:34480945 | DOI:10.1016/j.envres.2021.111974

Sleep duration and health outcomes: an umbrella review
CONCLUSION: Inappropriate sleep duration is a risk factor for developing non-cancer conditions. Decreasing and increasing sleep hours towards extreme sleep durations are associated with poor health outcomes.PMID:34435311 | DOI:10.1007/s11325-021-02458-1

Electrocardiographic abnormalities, preclinical carotid atherosclerosis andcardiovascular risk, in an apparently healthy real-world population: data from the project "No Stroke, No Infarction" of the rotary international - District 2110 "Sicily & amp; Malta"
CONCLUSIONS: A total of 302 (16.2%) subjects were at least at high risk for CV events according to the EUROSCORE, increasing to 681 (36,61% - p < 0.001) adding ACP. The combination of EUROSCORE with ECG may help to stratify CV risk in primary prevention. Carotid ultrasound furtherly increases the power of stratification of asymptomatic patients suitable for pharmacological treatment.PMID:34282855 | DOI:10.23736/S0392-9590.21.04637-X
