Effectiveness of Proximal Landing Zones 0, 1, and 2 Hybrid Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair: A Single Centre 12 Year Experience
CONCLUSION: Satisfactory early and long term results of hybrid arch repair at zones 0, 1, and 2 were achieved. To avoid complications and aortic events, the treatment strategy of hybrid arch repair for aortic arch pathologies should be tailored using accurate pre-operative assessment of the ascending aorta and the aortic arch.PMID:34916108 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2021.10.043

Abdominal aortic aneurysm ultrasound screening in men with risk factors in Primary Care
CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of aneurysms in our sample was 2.6%, which was lower than expected. The wide use of ultrasound and its progressive generalisation in the Primary Care setting should lead to a decrease in the number of undiagnosed AAA.PMID:34920344 | DOI:10.1016/j.aprim.2021.102234

Role of mitochondrial DNA copy number in incident cardiovascular diseases and the association between cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes: A follow-up study on middle-aged women
CONCLUSIONS: Lower baseline mtDNA-CN is associated with incident CVD and may have a mediating effect on the association between T2D and CVD; however, this novel observation needs to be confirmed in future studies.PMID:34876297 | DOI:10.1016/j.atherosclerosis.2021.11.020

Promising Nutritional Fruits Against Cardiovascular Diseases: An Overview of Experimental Evidence and Understanding Their Mechanisms of Action
Vasc Health Risk Manag. 2021 Nov 23;17:739-769. doi: 10.2147/VHRM.S328096. eCollection 2021.ABSTRACTCardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in both developed and developing countries, affecting millions of individuals each year. Despite the fact that successful therapeutic drugs for the management and treatment of CVDs are available on the market, nutritional fruits appear to offer the greatest benefits to the heart and have been proved to alleviate CVDs. Experimental studies have also demonstrated that nutritional fruits have potential protective effects against CVDs. The ai...

The Impact of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm on Cardiovascular Diseases
Int Heart J. 2021;62(6):1235-1240. doi: 10.1536/ihj.21-328.ABSTRACTCardiovascular diseases (CVDs) including myocardial infarction (MI) and stroke are often diagnosed in patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). However, little has been reported regarding the incidence.Patients with AAA were selected from the National Health Insurance system in South Korea between 2009 and 2015. A total of 10,822 participants with a new diagnosis of AAA were included. Propensity score matching by age and sex with patients in whom AAA was not diagnosed was used to select the control group of 32,466 participants. Primary endpoints includ...
