Abstract Although previous studies demonstrated the risk of ischemic stroke (IS) in patients with head and neck cancer (HNC), the impact of oral antithrombotic therapy (OAT) on this risk has not yet been assessed. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of OAT in patients with HNC treated with RT. Quality of care in patients with atrial fibrillation in primary care: a cross-sectional study comparing clinical and claims data.
Conclusion: Our results suggest that a high rate of AF patients receive a drug therapy according to guidelines. There is a large difference between crude and adjusted OAC treatment rates. This is due to individual contraindications and comorbidities which cannot be documented using ICD coding. Therefore, quality indicators based on crude EMR data or claims data would lead to a systematic underestimation of the quality of care. Different impact of aspirin on renal progression in patients with predialysis advanced chronic kidney disease with or without previous stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: There was no significant benefit in preventing ischemic stroke in the patients with advanced CKD who received aspirin therapy. Cardiovascular, Bleeding, and Mortality Risks of Dabigatran in Asians With Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— In real-world practice, dabigatran was associated with a reduced risk of ischemic stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, all hospitalized major bleeding, and all-cause mortality compared with warfarin in Asian patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation. Dabigatran did not increase the risk of major gastrointestinal bleeding or myocardial infarction compared with warfarin.

Underutilization of warfarin for stroke prophylaxis in patients with atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter in Korea.
CONCLUSIONS: A high portion of AF/AFL patients with CHADS2 score ≥2 were undertreated with warfarin. Cost Effectiveness of Rivaroxaban for Stroke Prevention in German Patients with Atrial Fibrillation
Conclusions Our results showed that the substantially higher medication costs of rivaroxaban were offset by mitigating the shortcomings of warfarin, most notably frequent dose regulation and bleeding risk. Future health economic studies on novel oral anticoagulants should evaluate the cost effectiveness for secondary stroke prevention and, as clinical data from direct head-to-head comparisons become available, new anticoagulation therapies should be compared against each other.

Effectiveness and safety of antiplatelet in stroke patients with end‐stage renal disease undergoing dialysis

Adverse events requiring hospitalization within 30 days after outpatient screening and nonscreening colonoscopies
Conclusions: This study provides further evidence of the safety of colonoscopy in routine practice with regard to delayed and non-GI AEs. Hospitalizations because of the investigated AEs were uncommon or rare for both screening and nonscreening colonoscopies.
