Identification and function of circular RNA hsa_circ_0071106: A novel biomarker for differentiation degree of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
CONCLUSION: Hsa_circ_0071106 was a downregulated circRNA related to ESCC and promoted ESCC progression by regulating cell migration and invasion. These findings suggest that hsa_circ_0071106 could be a promising diagnostic biomarker and potential therapeutic target and might predict ESCC's histological differentiation degree.PMID:35390631 | DOI:10.1016/j.prp.2022.153875

RING-Finger Protein 6 promotes Drug Resistance in Retinoblastoma < em > via < /em > JAK2/STAT3 Signaling Pathway
In this study, we investigated the role of RNF6 in RB drug resistance. Two carboplatin-resistant RB cells, Y-79/CR and SO-Rb50/CR, were generated based on Y-79 and SO-Rb50 cells. RT-PCR and western blot analyses showed that RNF6 expression on both mRNA and protein levels was significantly increased in Y-79/CR and SO-Rb50/CR cells comparing to their parental cells. Knockdown of RNF6 using siRNA in Y-79/CR and SO-Rb50/CR cells resulted in cells sensitive to carboplatin on a RNF6 siRNA dose dependent manner. Similarly, RNF6 overexpression in parental Y-79 and SO-Rb50 cells could help cells gain resistance to carboplatin on a ...

Netrin-1 overexpression induces polycystic kidney disease - a novel mechanism contributing cystogenesis in ADPKD
Am J Pathol. 2022 Mar 28:S0002-9440(22)00104-3. doi: 10.1016/j.ajpath.2022.03.004. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDespite recent advances in understanding the pathogenesis of polycystic kidney disease (PKD), the underlying molecular mechanisms involved in cystogenesis are not fully understood. Here, we describe a novel pathway involved in cyst formation. Transgenic mice overexpressing netrin-1 in proximal tubular cells showed increased production and urinary excretion of netrin-1. Although no cysts were detectable immediately after birth, numerous small cysts were evident by the age of 4 weeks and disease was accelerated al...

The combination of TRAIL and the Smac mimetic LCL-161 induces an irreversible phenotypic change of MCF-7 breast cancer cells
CONCLUSIONS: The results demonstrate that LCL-161 and TRAIL can irreversibly alter the MCF-7 breast cancer cell phenotype. However, the changes in morphology and global gene expression are mediated via separate pathways.PMID:35007560 | DOI:10.1016/j.yexmp.2021.104739
