Long non-coding RNA UCA1 mediates proliferation and metastasis of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma cells via regulating miR-185-5p/HOXA13 axis
CONCLUSIONS: The current findings reveal the important role of lncRNA UCA1/miR-185-5p/HOXA13 regulatory network in LSCC cells, and potentially provide new insights into the pathogenesis of LSCC.PMID:33629307 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202102_24845

Silencing of SETD6 inhibits the tumorigenesis of oral squamous cell carcinoma by inhibiting methylation of PAK4 and RelA
CONCLUSION: Knockdown of SETD6 inhibits the tumorigenesis of OSCC by suppressing promoter methylation of PAK4 and RelA. Therefore, our study might shed new light on exploring strategies for the treatment of OSCC.PMID:33710605 | DOI:10.14670/HH-18-327

Circular RNA hsa_circ_0000700 promotes cell proliferation and migration in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma by sponging miR-1229
Accumulating evidence has demonstrated that circular RNAs (circRNAs) are involved in the pathogenesis of cancer, including that of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). The current study aimed to investigate the role of hsa_circ_0000700 in ESCC. hsa_circ_0000700, miR-1229, and related functional gene expression was measured by RT-qPCR. To characterize the functions of hsa_circ_0000700 and miR-1229, ESCC cells were infected with hsa_circ_0000700-specific siRNA, miR-1229 mimics, and an inhibitor alone or in combination. Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK8), colony formation, EdU, flow cytometry, and Transwell assays were employed...

Trichostatin A promotes esophageal squamous cell carcinoma cell migration and EMT through BRD4/ERK1/2 ‐dependent pathway
ConclusionsOur data indicate the existence of at least two separable ERK1/2-dependent signaling pathways in TSA-mediated ESCC cell migration: an ERK1/2 –Slug branch and an ERK1/2-PAI-1 branch. Both branches of TSA-induced ESCC cell migration appear to favor the EMT process, while BRD4 is responsible for two separable ERK1/2-dependent signaling pathways in TSA-mediated ESCC cell migration.

USP9X Is Required to Maintain Cell Survival in Response to High-LET Radiation
Ionizing radiation (IR) principally acts through induction of DNA damage that promotes cell death, although the biological effects of IR are more broad ranging. In fact, the impact of IR of higher-linear energy transfer (LET) on cell biology is generally not well understood. Critically, therefore, the cellular enzymes and mechanisms responsible for enhancing cell survival following high-LET IR are unclear. To this effect, we have recently performed siRNA screening to identify deubiquitylating enzymes that control cell survival specifically in response to high-LET α-particles and protons, in comparison to low-LET X-rays an...

Identification and validation of Osteopontin and receptor for hyaluronic acid-mediated motility (RHAMM, CD168) for potential immunotherapeutic significance of in lung squamous cell carcinoma
CONCLUSIONS: By using integrated bioinformatics, we have identified CD168 and OPN as DEGs with poor prognosis in LUSC and have validated their interaction in the ECM receptor pathway. These genes could be potential diagnostic and therapeutic targets for LUSC patients undergoing immunotherapy.PMID:35334357 | DOI:10.1016/j.intimp.2022.108715

Identification and function of circular RNA hsa_circ_0071106: A novel biomarker for differentiation degree of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
CONCLUSION: Hsa_circ_0071106 was a downregulated circRNA related to ESCC and promoted ESCC progression by regulating cell migration and invasion. These findings suggest that hsa_circ_0071106 could be a promising diagnostic biomarker and potential therapeutic target and might predict ESCC's histological differentiation degree.PMID:35390631 | DOI:10.1016/j.prp.2022.153875
