What is known about what works in community-involved decision-making relating to urban green and blue spaces? A realist review protocol
DiscussionThe realist synthesis will explore the key context, mechanism and outcome configurations that appear to explain if and how different approaches to community-involved UGBS decision-making are or are not effective. We will consider factors such as different conceptualisations of community, and if and how they have been involved in UGBS decision-making; the types of tools and approaches used; and the socio-cultural and political or governance structures within which decision-making takes place.

Reasons, Rewards, and Tips for a More Accessible and Inclusive Web
The following is a guest article by Ben Cash, Founding Partner and CEO at Reason One The end of September marks International Week of the Deaf, followed soon after by Blind Americans Equality Day. Both are reminders of the need to make online resources accessible to all. Translation, cross-cultural adaptation and reliability testing of the barriers to physical activity and Disability survey (B-PADS) for Thai people with Spinal Cord injury
CONCLUSION: The Thai-B-PADS final version was successfully translated and culturally adapted for people with SCI.IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONMulti-stakeholders, including academic experts, researchers, translators, clinicians, target users and clients, should be involved in developing health-related questionnaires' translation and cultural adaptation processes. The Thai version of Barriers to Physical Activity and Disability Survey (B-PADS) possessed high levels of inter- and intra-rater reliability to assess barriers related to undertaking physical activities or exercise in people with spinal cord injury.Interactional b...

Fatigue in children and adolescents after burns: evaluating the problem using longitudinal data
CONCLUSIONS: More than a quarter of pediatric burn patients reported fatigue six months after discharge. Further research in larger populations is required, including also the impact of burn-related fatigue on daily functioning and quality of life.Trial registration number: OND1353942Implications for rehabilitationFatigue should be recognized as a potential consequence of (pediatric) burns, even several months post burnFatigue should be assessed regularly after discharge in all children and adolescents with burns, as it seems not possible to predict its severity from age, sex, or burn severity characteristicsThe weak assoc...

Impact of ERAS compliance on the short-term outcomes for distal radius surgery: a single-center retrospective study
CONCLUSIONS: This study provided a realistic evaluation and comparison of the ERAS protocol among patients with DRF and can guide clinical decision making. The ERAS protocol may improve outcomes after surgery, with high postoperative function levels and reduced pain and discharge time after surgery, without increased complication rates or hospital costs.PMID:37726824 | DOI:10.1186/s13018-023-04178-6

Collagenase Treatment Versus Needle Fasciotomy for Single-Digit Dupuytren Contractures: A  Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
CONCLUSIONS: Needle fasciotomy and collagenase treatment have similar outcomes with regards to contracture recurrence, final FFC, QuickDASH scores, and URAM scores for the single-digit treatment for Dupuytren contracture at a minimum of 3-year follow-up. Relevant factors that may be considered during the shared decision-making process for treatment selection include surgeon and patient preferences, costs of treatment, and the disparate complication profiles of these two treatments.TYPE OF STUDY/LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Therapeutic II.PMID:37725027 | DOI:10.1016/j.jhsa.2023.08.008

Right amygdala and caudate activation patterns predict implicit attitudes toward people with autism spectrum disorders and physical disabilities, respectively
In this study, we focused on implicit attitudes toward people with ASD and physical disabilities, which are more visible than ASD, and investigated whether implicit attitudes were predicted by using neural activity with multivoxel pattern analysis (MVPA) in the prejudice network. Thirty-six, right-handed, Japanese, university students without disabilities participated. Two implicit association tests (IAT) toward people with ASD and physical disabilities revealed negative implicit attitudes. In the MRI scanner, participants performed a one-back task by using the same picture sets of IATs to examine their neural responses to...
