Advances in Sinus Surgery for Nasal Polyps
CONCLUSION: Surgical intervention remains a mainstay of therapy for CRSwNP. Newer techniques revolve around improving access for topical steroid therapy.PMID:36848271 | DOI:10.1177/19458924221147783

State of the Art Medical Management of Nasal Polyps
CONCLUSIONS: Topical steroid therapy is clearly effective for CRSwNP, and recent studies demonstrate the safety and efficacy of high-dose nasal steroid rinses. Alternate delivery methods for local steroids may be useful for patients who are not responding to or who are noncompliant with conventional intranasal corticosteroid sprays and rinses. Future studies are needed to clarify if oral or topical antibiotics, oral anti-leukotrienes, or other novel therapies are significantly effective in decreasing symptoms and improving the quality of life in patients with CRSwNP.PMID:36848283 | DOI:10.1177/19458924221145256

Lymphocytic Esophagitis: A Case Series of Esophageal Disease with Increasing Frequency
CONCLUSIONS: LE seems to be a benign but disturbing clinical problem and should be remembered in elderly females complaining of dysphagia or refractory reflux symptoms. It has similar endoscopic findings of eosinophilic esophagitis with rings and esophagitis. Smoking and hiatal hernia are common risk factors. The majority of LE patients can respond to proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy. Endoscopic dilations and steroid therapy should be considered for PPI nonresponder LE patients.PMID:36718059 | DOI:10.2174/2772270817666230130093341

Mid-term outcomes of mastoid obliteration with biological hydroxyapatite versus bioglass: a radiological and clinical study
ConclusionPost-operative CT scan of mastoid obliteration seems reliable in assessment of biomaterial graft ’s mid-term feasibility and stability: BHA seems to provide a more optimal osseointegration versus BG with no significant differences in graft resorption and clinical tolerance.

Collagenous colitis in a child induced by chronic respiratory allergy: A case report
Conclusion: CC in children is rare, and childhood CC induced by a respiratory allergic reaction has not been previously reported. Therefore, this is a special case of CC in a patient who was cured with anti-allergy treatments and desensitization instead of steroid therapy.

Ocular allergic contact dermatitis from topical drugs
Purpose of review Ocular allergic contact dermatitis is a common yet challenging and frequently misdiagnosed condition. Inappropriate or delayed treatment can contribute to a variety of clinical symptoms such as tearing and itching with signs such as ptosis and cicatricial ectropion, resulting in deterioration of disease, for which the topical medication was originally prescribed to resolve. Recent findings Understanding previously unrecognized pathogenic mechanisms involving ocular contact dermatitis has driven new approaches to control the inflammatory process by neutralizing inflammatory mediators and their recepto...

Unexpected effects of systemic steroids on the CRSwNP proteome: is protein upregulation more important than inhibition?
ConclusionProteomic analysis of differentially expressed proteins in CRSwNP demonstrates that systemic steroids cause almost uniform upregulation of transcriptionally decreased proteins, whereas the effects of steroids on transcriptionally increased proteins are more heterogeneous. Thus, proteomic analysis may be an effective tool to understand specific therapeutic benefits of steroid use in polyp disease and to create more targeted treatments.

Th2 inflammatory responses in the development of nasal polyps and chronic rhinosinusitis
Purpose of review Pathogenesis of nasal polyp has been largely studied based on innate and adaptive immunity of sinonasal mucosa. So far, various factors have been identified that trigger an inflammatory response in the pathogenesis of nasal polyps. In this review, we summarized recently updated information in the understanding of mechanisms in the development of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyp (CRSwNP) focusing on Th2 inflammation. Recent findings Endotype of CRSwNP presented mainly Th2-skewed inflammation, and it has been associated with refractoriness and comorbidities. Staphylococcus aureus can drive Th2 i...
