Atopic Dermatitis in the Pediatric Population: A Cross-sectional, International, Epidemiologic Study.
CONCLUSION: This global survey in 18 countries showed that AD affects a substantial proportion of the pediatric population. Although prevalence and severity varied across age groups and countries, <15% had severe AD. PMID: 33421555 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Inborn Errors of Immunity: How to diagnose them?
CONCLUSIONS: The diagnostic investigation of Inborn Errors of Immunity should be guided by the clinical characterization of patients, aiming to optimize the use of complementary tests. Many diagnoses are attained only through genetic tests, which are not always available. However, the absence of a diagnosis of certainty should never delay the implementation of therapeutic measures that preserve patient life and health. California Has the Second Confirmed Case of the Coronavirus Variant in the U.S.
California on Wednesday announced the nation’s second confirmed case of the new and apparently more contagious variant of the coronavirus, offering a strong indication that the infection is spreading more widely in the United States. Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the infection found in Southern California during an online conversation with Dr. Anthony Fauci, head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. “I don’t think Californians should think that this is odd. It’s to be expected,” Fauci said. Newsom did not provide any details about the person who was infected. The announc...

IJERPH, Vol. 17, Pages 8917: Five Predictors Affecting the Prognosis of Patients with Severe Odontogenic Infections
Conclusions: Besides clinical symptoms of severity, complications of severe odontogenic infection are predicted by measurables and objectives criteria as penicillin allergy, mandibular molar, C-reactive protein level, psychiatric disorders and alcohol abuse. Their specific association potentialize the risks. IRB number: CE-CIC-GREN-12-08.

Diagnostic Criteria for Odontogenic Sinusitis: A Systematic Review.
CONCLUSIONS: Current diagnostic criteria for odontogenic sinusitis are extremely heterogeneous. Establishing shared diagnostic criteria aimed at defining both sinusitis and related odontogenic foci would spur collaboration between investigators and support more comprehensive outcomes evaluations together with a better understanding of treatment options. Immunodeficiencies: non-infectious manifestations.
CONCLUSIONS: Not only infectious conditions should raise the suspicion of immunodeficiencies, but also manifestations of allergy, inflammation, autoimmunity, lymphoproliferation, or cancer, especially if they are recurrent, associated to each other, affecting young patients, or in severe and/or difficult to treat conditions. Type 2 inflammation-related comorbidities among patients with asthma, chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps, and atopic dermatitis
Conclusions: High proportions of pts with m/s asthma, m/s AD, and m/s CRSwNP had comorbidities linked to T2 inflammation. Given the high comorbidity burden, an integrated treatment approach addressing underlying T2 inflammation should be considered.

External validation of Asthma prediction tool in the French ELFE cohort
Many of the proposed predictive scores for risk stratification of asthma have limited utility in preschool children due to inclusion of invasive procedures. Recently, the Leicester cohort (UK) developed a non-invasive prediction tool and we aimed to perform an external validation in our cohort.Participation at year 1 and 5 acted as the inclusion criteria. Information about 10 predictors (age1) and outcomes (asthma -age5) was obtained from parental responses to annual questionnaires. The total scores (0-15) were used for risk categorization (low, medium, and high).Logistic regression was used to calculate the odds ratio for...

Age of onset of rhinitis as a determinant of different rhinitis phenotypes
Rhinitis is a heterogeneous disease. Age of onset of rhinitis as a determinant of the different phenotypes has not yet been explored. Our aim was to describe phenotypes of rhinitis according to age of onset in adults from Constances, a large French population-based cohort. The 2014 annual follow-up questionnaire included detailed and validated questions that have allowed us to define rhinitis and its different phenotypes. This questionnaire was sent to 26,737 adults and completed by 21,507. We included in this analysis 5,795 participants with current rhinitis, thus is who reported symptoms in the last 12 months, and informed...

Prescribing patterns of antiasthma medication in children and adolescents in primary care in France
The aim of this study was to assess the prescribing patterns of antiasthma drugs in primary care. This is a retrospective cohort study performed between January 2011 and December 2017 using a 1/97th sample of the French national healthcare insurance system. Claims data for all individuals aged from 5 to 18 years’ old who had received at least one antiasthma drug in the study period without any delivery in the previous 24 months and with 24 months of follow-up after first delivery, were analysed.7,680 children and adolescents (68.6% aged 5-11, 31.4% aged 12-18 years) were delivered at least one antiasthma drug (ATC cod...

Determinants of doctors' antibiotic prescriptions for patients over 75 years old in the terminal stage of palliative care.
CONCLUSION: Antibiotic use in end-of-life EPs in PC seems frequent. In accordance with the principle of beneficence, its goal of often symptom-related; that said, in the absence of scientific data, antibiotic prescription in end-of-life situations should be individualized in view of observing the other ethical caregiving principles (beneficence, non-maleficence, justice, patient autonomy) and reevaluated daily.
