Food-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis improved by omalizumab prescribed for idiopathic chronic urticaria
Arerugi. 2022;71(1):46-50. doi: 10.15036/arerugi.71.46.ABSTRACTA 13-year-old male patient suffered several episodes of anaphylaxis during exercise after consuming wheat. Provocation tests (consisting of exercise after wheat ingestion) were conducted twice at our hospital. Both tests were positive, resulting in a diagnosis of food-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis (FDEIA) due to wheat. The patient was instructed to avoid exercise after wheat ingestion. The patient had also been previously diagnosed with idiopathic chronic urticaria, which was treated with antihistamines and leukotriene receptor antagonists. Since the i...

Sublingual immunotherapy for pediatric patients with mite allergies
This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of SLIT in children with dust mite allergies, as well as its adverse effects, at a pediatric general outpatient clinic. I analyzed the data of 181 patients aged 4 to 12 years who tested positive for mite antigen-specific immunoglobulin E, exhibited nasal and/or eye symptoms, and received Miticure. Symptoms were evaluated using the Japanese rhino-conjunctivitis quality of life (QOL) questionnaire no. 1. Wilcoxon tests were used to compare the pretreatment and post-treatment symptom scores. Adverse events were tallied, and Kaplan–Meier curves and Wilcoxon tests were us...

Effects of a Cloth Panel Containing a Specific Ore Powder on Patients with < em > Chamaecyparis obtusa < /em > (Cypress) Pollen Allergy
ScientificWorldJournal. 2021 Nov 10;2021:3924393. doi: 10.1155/2021/3924393. eCollection 2021.ABSTRACTPollen allergy to Japanese cedar and cypress is a serious illness that impairs daily life and sleep, especially during pollen season. We have reported that placing a cloth panel containing a specific natural ore powder (CCSNOP) in a room may alleviate the symptoms of hay fever and may also benefit the immune system. This ore is from the Aso mountain range, a volcano on Kyushu Island in the southwestern part of Japan. The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of CCSNOP on cypress pollen. Thirty-one double-blind tes...

New insights in mite immunotherapy – sublingual tablets
Purpose of review Sublingual tablet immunotherapy has been demonstrated to be effective for allergies induced by exposure to grass, ragweed, specific trees (Japanese Cedar; birch homologous tree mix), and house dust mites (HDM). This review provides both an overview of the evidence-based clinical studies that address the use of the HDM SLIT-tablet for the treatment of HDM-induced allergic rhinitis/conjunctivitis and its appropriate use in carefully selected asthmatic patients and provides the clinician with practical management considerations. Recent findings Solid evidence-based clinical studies have shown that...

IJERPH, Vol. 18, Pages 11657: Increased Prevalence of Atopic Dermatitis in Children Aged 0 –3 Years Highly Exposed to Parabens
In conclusion, the present results from a population study suggested a relationship between atopic dermatitis and exposure to parabens. A longitudinal study using a larger sample number and a detailed examination of atopic dermatitis, including EASI scores and exposure to parabens, will be necessary.

The Impact of Childhood Disease on Hospital Visiting: A Survey of Pediatricians
CONCLUSIONS: Caregivers make decisions on when to visit the hospital based on the child's expression of pain and their behavior. The creation of guidelines to give appropriate guidance to caregivers as to when to visit the hospital is essential.PMID:34526461 | DOI:10.1272/jnms.JNMS.2022_89-214
