Spatial distribution of atmospheric bioaerosols in Beijing, Hangzhou and Wuhan, China
In this study, air samples were collected in various planned areas of three cities in China (Beijing, Hangzhou and Wuhan) using a new liquid-based sampler. Animal, plant and bacterial components were quantified according to the expression levels of housekeeping genes via real-time PCR and analysis of cycle threshold (Ct) values. The level of animal-derived particles in the air of Hangzhou was higher than those in the other two cities. More bacterial particles than animal or plant particles were detected in the air in Beijing compared with other cities. We also found a negative correlation between the bacterial content of b...

How Convalescent Plasma Could Help Fight COVID-19
The last time most of us gave any thought to antibodies was probably in high school biology, but we’re getting a crash refresher course thanks to COVID-19. They are, after all, the key to our best defenses against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that’s caused the global pandemic. People who have been infected likely rely on antibodies to recover, and antibodies are what vaccines are designed to produce. The Role of Probiotics in the Prevention and Treatment of Atopic Dermatitis in Children: An Updated Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
ConclusionOur updated meta-analysis demonstrates that interventions with probiotics potentially lower the incidence of AD and relieve AD symptoms in children, particularly when treating infants and children aged  ≥ 1 year with AD. Interventions with mixed-strain probiotics tended to have better preventive and curative effects. Probiotics administered solely to infants appeared to produce negative preventive effects. Different intervention durations might also affect clinical outcomes. However, given the insignificant subgroup differences, except for treatment by participant age, and the moderate heterogeneity among ...
