MELD-score for risk stratification in cardiac surgery
AbstractThe outcome of the patients undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is also influenced by the renal and hepatic organ functions. Risk stratification, using scores such as EURO Score II or STS Short-Term Risk Calculator for patients undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass, ignores the quantitative renal and hepatic function; therefore, MELD-Score was applied in these cases. Comparison of Outcomes of Transcatheter Versus Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease
There are few data comparing outcomes of transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) vs. surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). In this retrospective cohort study using the National Inpatient Sample 2011 – 2014, we included a total of 2820 TAVI and 4054 SAVR procedures, representative of 14,039 TAVI and 19,835 SAVR procedures nationally. Co-primary outcomes were in-hospital mortality, acute kidney injury (AKI), dialysis-requiring AKI, and post-operative stroke.
