Overweight teen boys have increased risk of stroke in later life
Conclusion The findings of this large longitudinal cohort study seem to demonstrate a link between being overweight aged 20 and an increased risk of stroke. This risk was regardless of whether the boy had been overweight aged 8 or not. There seemed to be no increased risk for boys who were overweight aged 8 but were a normal weight by the age of 20. ConclusionThe findings of this study suggest that physical inactivity before stroke is associated with dependency in basic ADL 3 months after stroke. Trends in stroke incidence after hospitalization for atrial fibrillation in Sweden 1987 to 2006
Conclusion: We found a considerable decrease in risk of ischemic stroke in Sweden in patients without prior stroke and with a first hospital diagnosis of AF. There was an increased risk of hemorrhagic stroke, but because hemorrhagic stroke represented only a small proportion of all strokes, the overall risk of stroke declined.

Long-Term Risk of Ischemic Stroke After the Cox-Maze III Procedure for Atrial Fibrillation
Conclusions This multicenter study showed a low incidence of perioperative and long-term postoperative ischemic stroke/TIA after CM-III. Although general risk of ischemic stroke/TIA was reduced, patients with CHA2DS2-VASc score 2 or greater had a higher risk compared with score 0 or 1. Complete left atrial appendage excision may be an important reason for the low ischemic stroke rate.

Very Early MoCA Can Predict Functional Dependence at 3 Months After Stroke: A Longitudinal, Cohort Study
Conclusion: Cognitive function assessed with the MoCA within 36–48 h after stroke could predict functional dependence 3 months later. The participants with MoCA scores ≤23 for impaired cognition were more likely to be functionally dependent.
