A GIS-based Quantitative Approach for the Search of Clandestine Graves, Italy.
Abstract Previous research on the RAG color-coded prioritization systems for the discovery of clandestine graves has not considered all the factors influencing the burial site choice within a GIS project. The goal of this technical note was to discuss a GIS-based quantitative approach for the search of clandestine graves. The method is based on cross-referenced RAG maps with cumulative suitability factors to host a burial, leading to the editing of different search scenarios for ground searches showing high-(Red), medium-(Amber), and low-(Green) priority areas. The application of this procedure allowed several out...

A cross-cultural comparison of visual search strategies and response times in road hazard perception testing.
Abstract Road hazard perception is considered the most prominent higher-order cognitive skill related to traffic-accident involvement. Regional cultures and social rules that govern acceptable behavior may influence drivers' interpretation of a traffic situation and, consequently, the correct identification of potentially hazardous situations. Here, we aimed to compare hazard perception skills among four European countries that differ in their traffic culture, policies to reduce traffic risks, and fatal crashes: Ukraine, Italy, Spain, and Sweden. We developed a static hazard perception test in which driving scenes...

Are global R&D partnerships enough to increase a company's innovation performance? The role of search and integrative capacities
This study addresses this research gap by empirically analyzing the interrelation between global R&D partnerships, search and integrative capacities, and innovation performance. We tested our hypotheses on a sample of 112 medium-sized Italian firms with established GPs, leveraging a Partial Least Square (PLS) Structural Equation Model (SEM). Our results suggest that knowledge drawn from GPs plays a vital role in the innovation processes of the analyzed firms, but only when combined with the development of both of the internal sub-capacities we investigated (namely search and integrative capacities) thus, demonstrating an i...

Determinants of the Choice of Job Search Channels by the Unemployed Using a Multivariate Probit Model
AbstractWe investigate factors affecting the job search channels (newspapers, agency, informal network, direct contact, internet) of unemployed individuals in Italy using a multivariate probit model. We separately analyse unemployed individuals who lost their job or who are entering the labour market for the first time (i.e., with or without previous job experience, respectively). We use cross-sectional microdata covering the 2014 –2018 period. We do not find important differences in the determinants in common between unemployed individuals with and without previous job experience (such as, age, education, and citizenshi...
