Case Report: Cerebrovascular Events Associated With Bacterial and SARS-CoV-2 Infections in an Adolescent
We report the case of an adolescent who presented with febrile meningism and stupor. Clinical, biological, and radiological features favored the diagnosis of Lemierre syndrome (LS), with Fusobacterium necrophorum infection (sphenoid sinusitis and meningitis) and intracranial vasculitis. The patient had concurrent SARS-CoV-2 infection. Despite medical and surgical antimicrobial treatment, stroke prevention, and venous thrombosis prevention, he presented with severe cerebrovascular complications. Acute Ataxia in Childhood: 11-Year Experience at a Major Pediatric Neurology Referral Center
We categorized the causes of acute ataxia in the pediatric population—referred to the Division of Neurology—at a large, urban pediatric medical center. Of the 120 cases identified over the past 11 years, post-infectious cerebellar ataxia was the most commonly diagnosed (59%), followed by drug intoxication, opsoclonus-myoclonus ataxia syndrome, episodic ataxia, acute cerebellitis, cerebellar stroke, ADEM, meningitis, cerebral vein thrombosis, Leigh’s disease, Miller-Fisher syndrome, and concussion. A Case of Cerebral Venous Thrombosis and Deep Venous Thrombosis Due to Hyperthyroidism with Increased Factor VIII Activity
A 48-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital because of headache and fever. She was diagnosed with aseptic meningitis. Five days later, she had a seizure and developed left hemiparesis. Magnetic resonance imaging showed hyperintensity in the right parietal area on fluid attenuated inversion recovery imaging. She was diagnosed as having cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) because the suprasagittal sinus was invisible on the venographic studies. Moreover, deep venous thrombosis (DVT) was detected in her left lower extremity.

Before blaming SARS-CoV-2 for cerebrovascular disease in children, all differentials need to be ruled out
We read with interest the article by Spanelova et al. about four pediatric patients with cerebrovascular complications after a putative SARS-CoV-2 infection [1]. Patient-1 was diagnosed with subdural hematoma (SDH) and meningitis, patient-2 with cerebral vasculitis, patient-3 with lacunar stroke, and patient-4 with venous sinus thrombosis (VST) with haemorrhage [1]. It was concluded that SARS-CoV-2 infections in children can be complicated by cerebro-vascular disease [1]. The study is promising but raises concerns that should be discussed.

Headache and systemic lupus erythematosus: A narrative review
