Stroke incidence and association with risk factors in women: a 32-year follow-up of the Prospective Population Study of Women in Gothenburg
Conclusions Hypertension, smoking, AF, diabetes and high BMI were associated with increased stroke risk. Low education was associated with stroke. Validation of National Patient Registry diagnoses to increase specified diagnoses improved data quality.

Body Mass Index and Stroke Subtype in a Young Adult Stroke Population (I12-5D)
CONCLUSIONS: In our group of young adult stroke patients, we found the highest BMI in the group with intracranial atherosclerosis. Although this group represented a small number of patients, this young adult population is at increased risk for future strokes. It is important to educate them on lifestyle modifications such as weight loss and exercise in addition to the treatment of hypertension, diabetes mellitus and hyperlipidemia.Disclosure: Dr. Youn has nothing to disclose. How do cardiovascular risk factors correlate with post-stroke cognitive function: Directly or indirectly through stroke severity?
ConclusionThis is the first Chinese study exploring the moderated and mediating associations between cardiovascular risk factors, stroke severity, and cognitive function after stroke. Age, female sex, and atrial fibrillation were directly associated with lower cognition after stroke. The combination of hypertension might have a positive effect on cognition.

Clinico-radiological predictors of vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) in patients with stroke: A prospective observational study
Conclusion: Post-stroke cognitive impairment is frequent and is associated with poor functional outcome. Conclusion: In a sample of Singaporean adults residing in a public housing estate, we found evidence of poor stroke literacy, highlighting the need for comprehensive population-based education efforts. Conclusions History of prior stroke in itself may not significantly influence language impairment after an additional acute left hemisphere stroke, unless it contributes substantially to the total volume of infarcted brain tissue. Stroke incidence and outcome disparity in Rural regions of Southern West Virginia
Conclusions: Stroke incidence and mortality were found to be higher than expected in many areas of rural West Virginia. The higher stroke risk populations correlate with area that may be impacted by socioeconomic factors and limited access to primary care. These high-risk areas may therefore benefit from investments in infrastructure, patient education, and unrestricted primary care.
