Lipid and hyperglycemia factors in first ‐ever penetrating artery infarction, a comparison between different subtypes
ConclusionLDL‐C may be associated with both the pathogenesis and progression of intracranial BAD. The LSA infarction was the most frequently subtypes in PAI. Age at onset and HbA1c seem to be closely associated with the PPA infarction of first‐ever PAI. LDL‐C may be associated with both the pathogenesis and progression of intracranial BAD. The LSA infarction was the most frequent subtypes in PAI. Age at onset and HbA1c seem to be closely associated with the PPA infarction of first‐ever PAI.

Safety, immediate and mid-term results of the newer generation of hydrogel coils in the treatment of ruptured aneurysms: a multicenter study
Conclusions Our data show that the use of the newer-generation hydrogel coils in the treatment of ruptured aneurysms is feasible, safe and effective with high immediate and mid-term occlusion rates and low morbidity.

Recurrent stroke in a patient with vitamin B12 deficiency and MTHFR mutation
We report an unusual case of recurrent stroke in a patient with vitamin B12 deficiency who was also homozygous for the methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene mutation. The patient was a 35-year-old male vegetarian with no known medical history who initially presented with global aphasia, slurred speech, right facial weakness, and right-sided hemiplegia and was found to have a stroke (NIH Stroke Scale score of 25). Ambient Air Pollution Is Associated With the Severity of Coronary Atherosclerosis and Incident Myocardial Infarction in Patients Undergoing Elective Cardiac Evaluation Epidemiology
Conclusions Exposure to PM2.5 increased the likelihood of having severe coronary artery disease and the risk of incident myocardial infarction among patients undergoing elective cardiac evaluation. These results suggest that ambient air pollution exposure may be a modifiable risk factor for risk of myocardial infarction in a highly susceptible patient population.

Clinical characteristics, management and 1-year outcomes of patients with acute coronary syndrome in Iran: the Iranian Project for Assessment of Coronary Events 2 (IPACE2)
Conclusions Our study showed that the composition of Iranian patients with ACS regarding the type of ACS is similar to that in developed European countries and is unlike that in developing countries of the Middle East and Africa. We found that our patients with ACS are treated with high levels of adherence to guideline-recommended in-hospital medications.

Prognostic Usefulness of Serum Cholesterol Efflux Capacity in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease
Cholesterol efflux capacity has been shown to have an inverse relationship with coronary artery disease (CAD) and may overcome the limitations of high density lipoprotein cholesterol levels as a predictor for CAD risks. We investigated the predictive value of cholesterol efflux capacity for the prognosis of CAD. Serum cholesterol efflux capacity in 313 patients newly diagnosed with CAD by coronary angiography was measured, and all patients completed a 3-year follow-up. The primary clinical endpoints were non-fatal myocardial infarction, non-fatal stroke and cardiovascular mortality.

Could testing grip strength predict heart disease risk?

Anatomic Runoff Score Predicts Cardiovascular Outcomes in Patients with Lower Extremity Peripheral Artery Disease Undergoing Revascularization
Conclusions After adjustment for clinical factors, the LE-PAD anatomic runoff score was an independent predictor of future cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in a broadly-representative patient population undergoing revascularization for symptomatic PAD. A clinically useful anatomic scoring system, if validated, may assist clinicians in risk-stratification during the course of clinical decision-making.
