Mortality prediction using CHADS2/CHA2DS2-VASc/R2CHADS2 scores in systolic heart failure patients with or without atrial fibrillation
This study analyzed data in the Taiwan Society of Cardiology—heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (TSOC-HFrEF) registry. These data were obtained by a prospective, multicenter, observational survey of patients treated at 21 medical centers in Taiwan after hospitalization for acute, pre-existing or new onset SHF from May, 2013 to October, 2014. During 1 year follow-up, 198 patients were lost follow-up, and final 1311 (86.8%) patients were included for further analysis. During the follow-up period, 250 (19%) patients died. Long-term outcomes of percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a 13-year nationwide cohort study
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is associated with increased risk of coronary atherosclerosis. However, its impact on the long-term outcomes in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has not been described. Using the National Health Insurance Research Database of Taiwan, we identified 215275 adult patients who underwent first-time PCI between 2000 and 2012. Initial experience with percutaneous edge-to-edge transcatheter mitral valve repair in a tertiary medical center in Taiwan
Conclusion Trans-catheter edge-to-edge mitral valve repairs are safe and effective in Asians with symptomatic SMR, regarding the improvements of clinical symptoms and exercise capacities. MitraClips is also associated with reverse remodeling of pulmonary hypertension and left ventricular size in patients with SMR.

ADVANCIS Score Predicts Acute Kidney Injury After Percutaneous Coronary Intervention for Acute Coronary Syndrome.
In conclusion, the ADVANCIS score is a novel, simple, robust tool for predicting the risk of incident AKI after PCI for ACS, and it can aid in risk stratification to monitor patient care.

Non-aponea sleep disorder increases the risk of incident heart failure - a nationwide population-based cohort study

Factors associated with hospitalization for community-acquired pneumonia in home health care patients in Taiwan.
CONCLUSIONS: Our results revealed risk factors associated with hospitalization for CAP in HHC patients. In addition to chronic diseases, malnutrition is an important risk factor. Caregivers should make prompt assessments and take preventive measures for such patients.
