Mental health outcomes in children with acquired dystonia after basal ganglia stroke and associations with cognitive and motor outcomes.
The objective of this study was to explore mental health outcomes in children with basal ganglia stroke and to determine whether children with post-stroke dystonia experience additional mental health difficulties. We also examined associations between mental health, cognitive, and motor outcomes. Participants were 75 children with stroke involving the basal ganglia and/or thalamus (dystonia n = 24, no dystonia n = 51). CONCLUSION: The wide spectrum of secondary complications after a stroke constitutes a complex, sustained and multidisciplinary challenge, which requires a cross-sectoral interaction of various and numerous actors in outpatient poststroke care.

Association Between Stroke Characteristics and Post-Stroke Fatigue: A Meta-Analysis
Conclusions: Our meta-analysis indicated that PSF was closely relevant to stroke type and had no significant relationship with stroke location. However, the findings should be interpreted cautiously. Thus, we suggest an updated meta-analysis on this subject when more comprehensive studies that explore the above issue are available.

Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) for stroke recovery.
CONCLUSIONS SSRIs appeared to improve dependence, disability, neurological impairment, anxiety and depression after stroke, but there was heterogeneity between trials and methodological limitations in a substantial proportion of the trials. Large, well-designed trials are now needed to determine whether SSRIs should be given routinely to patients with stroke.

Factors associated with community ambulation in chronic stroke.
CONCLUSION: Balance self-efficacy may be a significant determinant in the attainment of independent community ambulation post-stroke. This suggests that physical aspects such as gait speed and walking balance should not be considered in isolation when addressing community ambulation post-stroke. Predictors of health-related quality of life in community-dwelling stroke survivors: a cohort study
Conclusion.
These results contribute to an understanding of HRQoL in the first year post-stroke. Community participation and stroke-related disability are potentially modifiable risk factors affecting post-stroke HRQoL. Interventions aimed at addressing participation and disability post-stroke should be developed and tested.

Lived experiences of chronic cognitive and mood symptoms among community-dwelling adults following stroke: a mixed-methods analysis.
CONCLUSION: Stroke survivors experienced cognitive and mood-related symptoms beyond one-year post stroke, which has implications for long-term assessment and management. Incorporation of continued symptom monitoring into existing community-based services is needed to address chronic cognitive and mood symptoms affecting the quality of life of persons with stroke.

Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) for stroke recovery.
CONCLUSIONS: We found no reliable evidence that SSRIs should be used routinely to promote recovery after stroke. Meta-analysis of the trials at low risk of bias indicate that SSRIs do not improve recovery from stroke. We identified potential improvements in disability only in the analyses which included trials at high risk of bias. A further meta-analysis of large ongoing trials will be required to determine the generalisability of these findings.
