Impact of Baseline Bleeding Risk on Efficacy and Safety of Ticagrelor versus Clopidogrel in Chinese Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.
Conclusion: Among real-world Chinese patients with ACS treated by PCI, ticagrelor only showed superior efficacy in patients with low bleeding risk but lost its advantage in patients with moderate-to-high bleeding potential. PMID: 30127210 [PubMed - in process]

Rationale and Design of the Evaluation of Oral Anticoagulation for Reduction of Thrombo-embolism in Chinese Patients with Device-Detected Subclinical Atrial Fibrillation (ART-CAF) Trial: an Open-Label Registry-Based Clinical Trial
ConclusionsART-CAF evaluates the feasibility of selecting high-risk patients suitable for anticoagulation by AF burden combined with CHA2DS2-VASc score after pacemaker implantation and aims to select patients who could benefit from anticoagulation.Trial Registrationhttp://www.chictr.org.cn/index.aspx ChiCTR1800016221

Eating an Egg a Day May Keep Heart Disease Away, a New Study Says
Eggs have been a taboo food for decades, since they are high in cholesterol, but the latest science suggests that they might not be as unhealthy as once thought. In a study published in the journal Heart, researchers from China found that people who ate an average of one egg per day had lower rates of heart disease and an even lower risk of having a bleeding stroke than people who did not eat eggs. The study included nearly half a million people in China who filled out questionnaires about their egg-eating habits and were followed for nine years on average for heart-related health events. People who said they ate eggs da...

Parent Artery Reconstruction for Large or Giant Cerebral Aneurysms Using the Tubridge Flow Diverter: A Multicenter, Randomized, Controlled Clinical Trial (PARAT) INTERVENTIONAL
CONCLUSIONS: This trial showed an obviously higher rate of large and giant aneurysm obliteration with the Tubridge FD over Enterprise stent-assisted coiling. However, this higher obliteration rate came at the cost of a nonsignificantly higher rate of complications. Investigational site comparisons suggested that a learning curve for flow-diverter implantation should be recognized and factored into trial designs.

Low-Dose Unfractionated Heparin with Sequential Enoxaparin in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus and Complex Coronary Artery Disease during Elective Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.
Conclusion: In elective PCI, low-dose UFH with sequential enoxaparin has similar effects and safety to the UFH-only method. PMID: 29578118 [PubMed - in process]

Safety and Incidence of Cardiovascular Events in Chinese Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome Treated with Ticagrelor: the 12-Month, Phase IV, Multicenter, Single-Arm DAYU Study
ConclusionsTicagrelor plus low-dose aspirin for up to 1  year was associated with a low rate of major bleeding events and a low incidence of major CV events (CV death, myocardial infarction, stroke) in Chinese patients with ACS. The overall safety profile of ticagrelor in this population was in line with current prescribing information.

Characteristics of patients with atrial fibrillation prescribed antiplatelet monotherapy compared with those on anticoagulants: insights from the GARFIELD-AF registry
ConclusionPrescribing AP monotherapy in newly diagnosed AF has declined, but even nowadays a substantial proportion of AP-treated patients with AF have no indication for AP.Clinical Trial RegistrationURL:http://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Unique identifier: NCT01090362.

Effect of cytochrome P450 2C19 polymorphism on adverse cardiovascular events after drug-eluting stent implantation in a large Hakka population with acute coronary syndrome receiving clopidogrel in southern China
ConclusionsOur results shed new light on the important benefit of testing CYP2C19 polymorphisms before prescribing clopidogrel in patients treated with drug-eluting stent implantation after PCI. The testing may help to optimize pharmacotherapy effectiveness by providing individualized treatment to the Chinese population. Our findings mandate further studies aimed at initiating genome-based personalized antiplatelet therapy in a Hakka population in southern China.

Outcomes of an online pharmacist-managed anticoagulation clinic for individuals on warfarin therapy living in rural communities
Warfarin is one of the oral anticoagulants used for the prevention of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation and mechanical heart valves or the treatment of venous thromboembolism [1]. However, warfarin therapy is challenging not only because this drug is known to have a narrow therapeutic range and carry a risk of bleeding but also because it can be influenced by certain patient variables and potential drug –drug, drug–food, and drug–herb interactions. In Chinese patients, warfarin therapy is especially challenging because Chinese patients are more sensitive than Caucasians to the anticoagulant effect of warfar...

Anti-embolic effect of Taorenchengqi Tang in rats with embolic stroke induced by occluding middle cerebral artery.
CONCLUSION: Either TRCQT alone or TRCQT plus aspirin exhibits potent neuroprotective effect by reducing infarct volume without changing the status of SAH, ICH and gastric bleeding possibly via inhibiting the platelet activation and increasing bleeding time. PMID: 31682375 [PubMed]

Use of Warfarin at Discharge Among Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients With Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation in China Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— The rate of warfarin use remains low among patients with ischemic stroke and known nonvalvular atrial fibrillation in China. Hospital size and academic status together with patient age, heart failure, heavy alcohol drinking, international normalized ratio in hospital, and stroke severity on admission were each independently associated with the use of warfarin at discharge. There is much room for improvement for secondary stroke prevention in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation patients in China.
