Top Ten Medical Research Issues and Trends to Watch in 2017
2016 will go down as a year that taught us to question our assumptions. The election of Donald Trump, an outcome almost no one predicted, left many with a sense of uncertainty about what 2017 will bring in the biomedical and health-care space. To bring clarity to these unsure times, FasterCures has compiled a list of issues critical to the future of medical innovation that we'll be tracking over the coming year. While some issues will be closely linked with the people and policies of the new presidential administration, we think all will be important to continuing the progress toward faster cures and treatments. 1. Evaluation Breast Cancer Information on The Internet in Arabic
AbstractNowadays, medical information regarding various diseases and disorders is available online. The Internet has become the first choice for the patient when it comes to gathering detailed information about a disease or problem. Therefore, in view of this frequent occurrence, the information that is provided online needs to be accurate; providing comprehensive facts, transparency, and quality. A study was carried out to determine the accuracy of information related to breast cancer on various websites. Websites which share information online about breast cancer, in the Arabic language, were selected. The quality of the...

IJERPH, Vol. 15, Pages 1961: What Explains Education Disparities in Screening Mammography in the United States? A Comparison with The Netherlands
Conclusion: In the absence of a universal screening program in the U.S., determinants of access—income, insurance coverage and receipt of medical advice—appear to drive the education disparities in screening mammography.

Knowledge and Perception of Breast Density, Screening Mammography, and Supplemental Screening: in Search of “Informed”
ConclusionsMore research needs to be done to understand how the medical community can best assist women in making informed decisions related to breast density, mammography, and supplemental screening. Options to explore include improved breast density notifications and education materials about breast density, continued development of personalized risk information tools, strategies for providers to discuss evidence and options based on risk stratification, and shared decision-making.

Factors that Influence Mammography Use for Breast Cancer Screening among African American Women.
CONCLUSIONS: Financial and cultural issues were important hindrances to breast cancer screening in African American women. These findings highlight the importance of affordable health care for preventive health services as well as the relevance of culturally embedded issues to health, while the MQS accentuates the need for more rigorous research articles. Breast cancer screening interventions in this population should attend to barriers identified in this review. PMID: 32641257 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Coffee Consumption and Cancer Risk; An Assessment of the Health Implications Based on Recent Knowledge
A significant number of studies suggests that coffee consumption reduces cancer risk. This beneficial effect is usually ascribed to the presence of polyphenolic antioxidants and anti- inflammatory agents, including caffeine, cafestol, kahweol and chlorogenic acids. To summarize recent literature on this subject we performed a bibliographic search in PubMed and Embase over the period January 2005 to December 2020 to identify cohort studies and meta-analysis (with data collection ensuring quality of selected reports) that could provide quantitative data on the relationship between coffee consumption and common cancers. The t...

Cancers, Vol. 14, Pages 6159: Improved Bald Eagle Search Optimization with Synergic Deep Learning-Based Classification on Breast Cancer Imaging
This article presents a model of an improved bald eagle search optimization with a synergic deep learning mechanism for breast cancer diagnoses using histopathological images (IBESSDL-BCHI). The proposed IBESSDL-BCHI model concentrates on the identification and classification of BC using HIs. To do so, the presented IBESSDL-BCHI model follows an image preprocessing method using a median filtering (MF) technique as a preprocessing step. In addition, feature extraction using a synergic deep learning (SDL) model is carried out, and the hyperparameters related to the SDL mechanism are tuned by the use of the IBES model. Lastly...

Breast Cancer Screening Recommendations for Transgender and Gender Diverse Patients: A Knowledge and Familiarity Assessment of Primary Care Practitioners
AbstractBreast cancer screening recommendations for transgender and gender diverse (TGD) patients have only been recently developed and many primary care practitioners (PCPs) are unaware of these specific recommendations. The aim of this study is to assess the level of familiarity and knowledge PCPs have with breast cancer screening recommendations for TGD patients. An anonymous survey was distributed to primary care physicians, primary care advanced practice practitioners, and internal medicine and family medicine residents at three academic medical systems in the United States (Mayo Clinic, University of Michigan, Univer...

Breast Cancer Survivors' Perceptions of the Delivery of Lymphedema Education in the United States
Conclusion: From the study sample, there are variations in the information provided, including the source of its delivery, time frame of delivery, and the value perceived by the patient. The data suggest that physical therapists are underutilized as a primary resource for education delivery despite being perceived as a valuable information source. Physical therapists should advocate for their role in the educational process as well as for standardization of information delivery for optimal patient care.
