Identification of Candidate Genes Associated with Pulp Color by Transcriptomic Analysis of 'Huaxiu' Plum ( < em > Prunus salicina < /em > Lindl.) during Fruit-Ripening
Curr Issues Mol Biol. 2022 Dec 15;44(12):6368-6384. doi: 10.3390/cimb44120434.ABSTRACTThe plum (Prunus salicina Lindl.) is one of the traditional and economically important stone fruit trees in China. Anthocyanins are important pigments in plums. However, little is known about the molecular mechanisms underlying anthocyanin accumulation in plum fruits, which has hindered research on the molecular mechanism of its utilization. Our research shows that the chlorophyll content was gradually decreased and the contents of anthocyanin and flavonoid increased during the coloring process of the pulp in 'Huaxiu' plums (P. salicina)....

Effect of plum supplementation on blood pressure, weight indices, and C-reactive protein: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Metabolic syndrome and its components are major health concerns around the world. Among various factors, overweight/obesity, its consequent inflammation, and hypertension are of special importance. Plums are anti-oxidant-rich fruits which have long been investigated for their health benefits. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we investigated the possible impact of plum supplementation on obesity, inflammation, and blood pressure. (Source: Clinical Nutrition ESPEN)

Determination of Phenolic Compounds and Bioactive Potential of Plum ( < em > Prunus salicina < /em > ) Peel Extract Obtained by Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction
Biomed Res Int. 2022 Aug 2;2022:7787958. doi: 10.1155/2022/7787958. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTUltrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) of bioactive compounds from black plum peels was optimized by response surface methodology (RSM). Temperature (35-55°C), time (15-45 min), and ethanol concentration (50-90%) were selected as independent extraction parameters, whereas total anthocyanin content (TAC), total phenolic content (TPC), and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) inhibition were kept as response variables. The optimized extraction conditions were determined by RSM as extraction at 49°C for 37 min with 68% ethanol, which ...

Determination of Cadmium and Chromium in Fruit Spirits Intended for Own Consumption Using Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometry
CONCLUSIONS: The ethanol concentration in the samples was higher than in distribution spirits. Concentrations of chromium in all samples did not exceed the limit given by the Slovak legislation or the limit of the AMPHORA. The permissible cadmium concentration (10 μg/l according to the AMPHORA) was exceeded in 9 samples. This indicates the potential importance of cadmium compared to chromium. Due to the lack of information in this field, the study presents an important starting point for further research.PMID:35285443 | DOI:10.14712/18059694.2022.4 (Source: Acta Medica: Hradec Kralove)
