Chronically  Pre-treatment of Pistachio Alters the Morphology of CA1 Hippocampus Neurons Following Transient Focal Cerebral Ischemia in Male Wistar Rats
CONCLUSIONS: Pistachio consumption reduces the volume of infarction and neuronal damage and improves neurological disorders after ischemia. Therefore, pretreatment with pistachio would have a protective effect against stroke.PMID:35075081 | DOI:10.23750/abm.v92i6.11622 (Source: Acta Bio-Medica : Atenei Parmensis)

Nanoliposomal formulation of pistachio hull extract: preparation, characterization and anti-cancer evaluation through Bax/Bcl2 modulation
CONCLUSION: The flow cytometry and real-time PCR results indicated the potential of this liposomal extract as an anti-cancer drug candidate for the treatment of liver cancer in the future, and the mitochondrial pathway involving the up-regulation of the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio can mediate its impact.PMID:35037194 | DOI:10.1007/s11033-021-07083-5 (Source: Molecular Biology Reports)

Genes, Vol. 13, Pages 60: Transcriptomic Analysis of the Pistacia vera (L.) Fruits Enable the Identification of Genes and Hormone-Related Gene Linked to Inflorescence Bud Abscission
lisa Marchese Pistacia vera (L.) is an alternate bearing species. The tree produces axillary inflorescence buds every year. Still, they abscise in “ON” overloaded shoots, causing a limited production in the following “OFF” year, causing a significant and unfavorable production fluctuation. In this work, we carried out de novo discovery and transcriptomic analysis in fruits of “ON” and “OFF” shoots of the cultivar Bianca. We also investigated whether the fruit signaling pathway and hormone biosynthesis directl...

Associations of SARS-COV-2 infection during pregnancy with cesarean delivery in an Arizona birth cohort
Initial reports during the COVID-19 pandemic in China showed higher rates of cesarean sections (CD) among mothers with COVID-19. Although this practice has generally been shown to not be necessary for the majority of COVID-19 cases, pregnant women with COVID-19 in the USA may still be at higher risk for CD. Our objective was to evaluate associations of SARS-COV-2 infection with risk for CD among participants in the Arizona Prenatal Infection with SARS-COV-2 and Childhood Health and Immune Outcomes Study (AZ PISTACHIO Study). Alkylation modified pistachio shell-based biochar to promote the adsorption of VOCs in high humidity environment
The objective of this work was to evaluate the adsorption capacity of alkylated modified porous biochar prepared by esterification and etherification (PSAC-2) for low concentrate volatile organic compounds (VOCs, toluene and ethyl acetate) in high humidity environment by experiments and theoretical calculations. Results showed that PSAC-2 has a large specific surface area and weak surface polarity, at 80% relative humidity, its capacities for toluene and ethyl acetate adsorption could be maintained at 92% and 87% of the initial capacities (169.9 mg/g and 96.77 mg/g). The adsorption behaviors of toluene, ethyl acetate, and ...

The The Effect of Phytosterols and Fatty Acids of Pistachio (Pistacia vera) Oil on Spermatogenesis and Histological Testis Changes in Wistar Adult Male Rats
CONCLUSION: It seems that phytosterols reduce spermatogenesis at high and low doses, while fatty acids increase spermatogenesis when used in low doses and reduce this process when used in high doses. The use of fatty acids extracted from pistachios to treat infertility in men seems hopeful.PMID:34839498 | DOI:10.22037/uj.v18i.6605 (Source: Urology Journal)
