Large pineal parenchymal tumor of intermediate differentiation causing compression with resultant obstructive hydrocephalus: a case report
CONCLUSION: One should carefully investigate a headache as the early symptom of many illnesses and rule out any other potential causes. This would therefore enable us to create a management structure for such a very unusual malignancy.PMID:36923739 | PMC:PMC10010788 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000000147 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

A temporal in vivo catalog of chromatin accessibility and expression profiles in pineoblastoma reveals a prevalent role for repressor elements [RESOURCES]
Pediatric pineoblastomas (PBs) are rare and aggressive tumors of grade IV histology. Although some oncogenic drivers are characterized, including germline mutations in RB1 and DICER1, the role of epigenetic deregulation and cis-regulatory regions in PB pathogenesis and progression is largely unknown. Here, we generated genome-wide gene expression, chromatin accessibility, and H3K27ac profiles covering key time points of PB initiation and progression from pineal tissues of a mouse model of CCND1-driven PB. We identified PB-specific enhancers and super-enhancers, and found that in some cases, the accessible genome dynamics p...

Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma of the Uterine Cervix: A Clinicopathologic Study of 94 Cases Emphasizing Issues in Differential Diagnosis Staging, and Prognostic Factors
This study highlights the intriguing clinical aspects of cERMS including its long-known tendency to occur in the young but also more recently appreciated association with DICER1 syndrome. Establishing the diagnosis may still be difficult because of the hazard of sampling a neoplasm which in areas may appear remarkably bland and also because of its potential confusion with other neoplasms. This study indicates that this tumor has a good prognosis at this site and in selected cases a conservative surgical approach is a realistic consideration. CSF involvement by nonhematolymphoid malignancies: A descriptive study with emphasis on cytomorphological clues
Conclusion: Nonhematolymphoid malignancies are readily diagnosable on CSF cytology, most of them are metastatic. Identification of malignant cells in CSF is critical, as it has therapeutic and prognostic implications. (Source: Journal of Cytology)

5-Aminolevulinic acid fluorescence-guided endoscopic surgery for intraventricular tumors
CONCLUSION: Our method has the potential to improve detection of residual tumors in blind spots and deep areas, as well as the accuracy and safety of biopsy procedures for intraventricular lesions that are difficult to view and treat under a microscope.PMID:35928327 | PMC:PMC9345107 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_488_2022 (Source: Surgical Neurology International)
