Hypocalcemia in combination with hyperphosphatemia impairs muscle cell differentiation in vitro
ConclusionsOur results showed that a condition of hypocalcemia with hyperphosphatemia induced an alteration of muscle cell differentiation in vitro. In particular, we observed the reduction of myogenic differentiation markers, IGF-1 signaling pathway, and ERK phosphorylation in differentiated skeletal myoblasts. These data suggest that this altered extracellular condition might contribute to the mechanisms causing persistence of symptoms in patients affected by hypoparathyroidism. Immobilized microalgae: principles, processes and its applications in wastewater treatment
AbstractMicroalgae have emerged as potential candidates for biomass production and pollutant removal. However, expensive biomass harvesting, insufficient biomass productivity, and low energy intensity limit the large-scale production of microalgae. To break through these bottlenecks, a novel technology of immobilized microalgae culture coupled with wastewater treatment has received increasing attention in recent years. In this review, the characteristics of two immobilized microalgae culture technologies are first presented and then their mechanisms are discussed in terms of biofilm formation theories, including thermodyna...

Longer serum phosphorus time in range associated with lower mortality risk among peritoneal dialysis patients: a multicenter retrospective cohort study
Relationship between serum phosphorus time in range and mortality risk in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients remains uncertain. We aimed to evaluate the association between serum phosphorus time in range and al... (Source: BMC Nephrology)

Reversal Effect of Phosphorus on Catalytic Performances of Supported Nickel Catalysts in Reductive Amination of 1,6-Hexanediol
ChemSusChem. 2024 Mar 28:e202400211. doi: 10.1002/cssc.202400211. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe reductive amination of 1,6-hexanediol with ammonia is one of the most promising green routes for synthesis of 1,6-hexanediamine. Herein, we developed a phosphorous modified Ni catalyst of Ni-P/Al2O3. It presented satisfactory improved selectivity to 1,6-hexanediamine in the reductive amination of 1,6-hexanediol compared to the Ni/Al2O3 catalyst. The phosphorous tended to interact with Al2O3 to form AlPOx species, induced Ni nanoparticle to be flatter, and the decrease of strong acid sites, the new-formed Ni-AlPOx-Al2O3 inter...
