Prevalence of Histological Gastritis in a Community Population and Association with Epigastric Pain
ConclusionGastritis is common in the population with a prevalence of 40% and is usually asymptomatic. Chronic body gastritis may be associated with epigastric pain, but independent validation is required to confirm these findings. Clinicians should not generally ascribe symptoms to histological gastritis. (Source: Digestive Diseases and Sciences)

Ketosis-prone Diabetes presenting with Acute Esophageal Necrosis or "Black Esophagus": An Intriguing New Clinical Association
CONCLUSIONS: KPD remains an under-recognized and under-diagnosed type of diabetes which can present as DKA. Since DKA could be a possible trigger of AEN, a rare but potentially lifethreatening condition, that clinicians should be aware of, in patients presenting with upper gastrointestinal bleeding and ketoacidosis. The prompt management and classification of DKA, combined with the EGD execution for early AEN diagnosis and follow-up, is essential.PMID:38083890 | DOI:10.2174/0118715303279019231127065331 (Source: Endocrine, Metabolic and Immune Disorders Drug Targets)

Utility of gastroscopy in the left lateral semi-recumbent position: A blood-free coup!
Conclusions These data show that endotherapy in the left lateral semi-recumbent position is feasible, safe, and effective. It should be done when endoscopy in the left lateral decubitus position reveals a pool of blood in the fundus and there is inadequate visualization of the fundus. How I do it: robotic hiatal hernia repair with stapled conversion from Nissen to Toupet fundoplication
AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to describe a robotic surgical technique for converting a slipped Nissen fundoplication to a Toupet fundoplication.  Our technique utilizes four 8 mm robotic ports placed in a horizontal pattern above the umbilicus. The robotic tools we used are a vessel sealer, bipolar forceps, and Cadière forceps. In addition, an esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) is placed through the esophagus into the stomach to be used as a bougie. If a hernia is present, we dissect it from the mediastinum until the posterior confluence is identified. Next sutures from the previous Nissen fundoplication are ident...

Clinical characteristics, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of nivolumab induced gastritis
SummaryGastritis has recently been reported to be associated with nivolumab, and the clinical characteristics of nivolumab induced gastritis remain unclear. To explore the clinical characteristics of nivolumab induced gastritis, and to provide reference for the classification and treatment guidelines of immune checkpoint inhibitors -related gastritis. Case reports, case series, and clinical studies of nivolumab induced gastritis were retrospectively analyzed by searching the database from the establishment of the database until September 30, 2023. Forty-seven were included, with a median age of 57  years (range 16, 93). T...

Characteristics of Esophageal Motility and Associated Symptom Profiles in Patients with Esophageal Diverticulum: A Study Based on High-Resolution Impedance Manometry
ConclusionPatients with ED tended to be older and was associated with a high prevalence of EMD. A multi-disciplinary evaluation, including complete anatomical and motility surveys, may help clarify the underlying pathophysiology and tailor further treatment strategies.Graphical Abstract (Source: Digestive Diseases and Sciences)
