CO < sub > 2 < /sub > emissions in Latin America: a time series perspective based on fractional integration
This article deals with the analysis of [Formula: see text] emissions in Latin America by using a long memory process based on fractional integration. Using data of [Formula: see text] emission and [Formula: see text] emissions per capita, for 32 Latin American and Caribbean countries, the results show significant differences according to the variable examined, the model used, and the country under examination. In particular, for the [Formula: see text] emissions, mean reversion is found in Belize and also under some circumstances in Antigua and Barbuda, Colombia, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Grenada, Honduras, N...

Types of Psychiatric Beds and Mental Health Services in 16 Latin American Countries, 1990-2020
CONCLUSIONS: The findings indicate that treatment capacity shifted from inpatient to outpatient and community care. Most countries had a bed shortage for acute psychiatric care, especially for children and adolescents and forensic patients. More comprehensive and standardized mental health service registries are needed.PMID:37644830 | DOI:10.1176/appi.ps.20220590 (Source: Psychiatric Services)

Novelty and phylogenetic relationships within the serendipeidae (cestoda: "tetraphyllidea")
J Parasitol. 2023 Aug 1;109(4):423-435. doi: 10.1645/22-124.ABSTRACTNanoduplicibothrium n. gen. is erected for the subgroup containing the smallest members of the "tetraphyllidean" family Serendipeidae with bothridia fused lengthwise in 2 pairs that lack both a distinct row of posterior loculi and a cephalic peduncle. Two new species in this genus are described. These are Nanoduplicibothrium leanneae n. gen. n. sp. from Rhinoptera bonasus off South Carolina and Nanoduplicibothrium megaphallum n. sp. from Rhinoptera jayakari off Mozambique. Two species currently assigned to Duplicibothrium are transferred to the new genus a...

Heterogeneity of Mycobacterium tuberculosis Strains Circulating in Panama's Western Region
Am J Trop Med Hyg. 2023 Aug 21:tpmd230039. doi: 10.4269/ajtmh.23-0039. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTuberculosis remains a challenge in both rural and urban areas. Although a majority of countries display a higher burden in urban areas compared with rural areas, Panama continues to report the highest mortality rate in Central America. Urban areas, such as Panama City, report a high tuberculosis burden, whereas Panama's western region, including the provinces of Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro (both semiurban) and Ngäbe-Bugle (rural), show a lower burden. We aimed to identify highly transmitted Mycobacterium tuberculosis strain...
