Extracurricular Activities?
Hey guys! So I'm a pre-med student (duh) and I was wondering about your opinion on my EC's so far? I'm just a freshman at the moment, and I am currently going to a junior college. I have a 4.0 GPA, and have aced everything so far, and I will try to keep it up the best I can. I am involved in the local pre-med club, as well as a GMT club, in which we go to Panama and help out sick people there for a week in the summer. I am also working part-time, so my time is constricted, but I need your...

Thoughts on my diversity essay topic?
For my diversity essay topic I'm thinking of writing about a near death experience. Last year I travelled to Panama as part of a volunteer medical team. While we were there we went swimming in a water hole in the middle of the jungle. One of my team members couldn't swim so he started to drown and I swam over to try and save him. I am not a trained lifeguard and almost died of secondary drowning. Luckily we were somehow able to get back to the shallow part of the water. Also, after coming...

Navy Undersea Medical Officer (UMO) questions
MS-IV starting TY internship at NMCSD this summer, considering UMO:
1. Are orders to the UMO training permanent change of station (PCS) orders or TAD orders?
2. Could my wife and kids remain in San Diego while I do the geo-bachelor thing in Groton and Panama City?
3. What variables go into whether you get the Summer or Winter UMO class? If I get the Winter class, can I pick where I get stashed?
4. Is the initial tour following UMO pipeline 2 or 2.5 years?
Thanks for your help. (Source: Student Doctor Network Forums)
