MD/MPH Possible Reapplication - Retake MCAT or bolster other parts of the app?
Hi all, I'm wondering if some ADCOMs can weigh in on this, especially. I applied this cycle to 30 MD schools, received 2 IIs, and am sitting on 2 WLs. I am ORM female, a VA resident, with an AMCAs sGPA of 3.82 and a cGPA of 3.84. I am graduating next month with a BS in Biology. I minored in Chemistry and Psychology at a state public school. I have gotten all As in my classes with the exception of Organic Chemistry 1, which I got a C in, Organic Chemistry 1 Lab, which I got a B in, and... Mike's Videos Experience
Hey everyone, so I've been using Mike's videos in conjunction with Chad's to study for both the OC and GC section of the DAT. Maybe someone would like to add their experience with using Mike's, but using both seems like a sure-fire way to do well on the two sections. I took the DAT on a whim last year and from what I've seen so far both cover everything needed to dominate organic and general chemistry. The only reason I'm bringing this up is because Mike's videos have received a bad... Mike's Videos Experience (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I got C+ in general chemistry my freshman year. Do I still have chance?
Hello folks, I just finished sophomore year. I have a concern b/c I received C+ in general chemistry in my freshman year. Would one bad grade kill my chances to medical schools? Freshman year: 1st semester: 3.76 (B+ in Calculus 1) 2nd semester: 3.40 (C+ in general chemistry 1, B+ in Calculus 2) Sophomore year: 1st semester: 3.86 (A in general chemistry 2 and A- in Biology 1) 2nd semester: 3.78 (A- in organic chemistry 1, B+ in Biology 2 and A in 4 credit research course ) My overall GPA... I can't stop comparing myself to friends.
As title suggests, my insecurity is killing me. I work really hard and put in my best effort for every class, but I always do worse than my friends. For instance, my friends and I struggled in Organic Chemistry and Physcis, so we had to study a lot to get grades we want in the classes. I got barely received A- in both classes while all of my friends got high A and aced the class. I know my friends put in their best effort to get A as well, but I worked and studidd as hard as they did. I am... I can't stop comparing myself to friends. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

low GPA freshman year, need help
Hi I just completed my freshman year. I had a 3.7 the first semester, but after this semester I will most likely end up with a 2.4. The class I failed was gen chem and I got a C+ in a Bio class. I did very well in my science classes the first semester, but not so much this semester. I am retaking both classes. My question is specifically for students who have done very well in pre-medical courses. How did you do it? Specifically, chem and the DREADED organic chemistry (which I am scared out... low GPA freshman year, need help (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Mcat self help?
I have recently returned back to school to add science to my bachelor’s degree, in order to apply to medical school. I will be finish with all of my classes in spring of 2019, but I was told I could apply this year even though I’m not finished. I just have to take the MCAT; I know easy right, lol. Well I’m currently in calculus 1, Bio 1, Advance Chem 1. I will take Chem 2, and calc 2 in the summer. Physics 1 and 2 along with organic 1 and 2 i can’t take until the fall and spring. My question... Mcat self help? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I got B+ in Biology 2 and A- in Organic Chemistry Class and Lab
My school's organic chemistry is known as the hardest class. I studied really hard for this class, but I got A- in the lecture and the lab. I am very frustrated because I could have gotten A in the class. For Bio 2, I struggled because the professor was new and tests were extremely difficult. I had to get A in both classes because my science gpa is lower than other competitive applicants. Are these grades good enough? I am planning to ace Ochem 2 and other upper bio classes. Thank you! Received a C in Organic Chemistry I
I received a C in organic chemistry I for being tardy to every single lecture in a small classroom. I have A's in the rest of my classes. How bad is this if I want to get an MD/PhD? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

C- in Organic Chem 2
Hello, I'm sure this will just get looped in with the whole "anal premed" spiel - but I was wondering if I should retake my organic chemistry grade from the semester. I just finished up my sophomore year and have a C- in organic 2. For reference, I had a B- in organic 1. This is the worst I've ever done in a class, and I am unsure if I would be able to do better if I were to retake it. In comparison, my other prereqs so far are mostly A's (with a B+ and an A- or two). I've seen many forums... C- in Organic Chem 2 (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Retaking C's for my core classes?
I know there's lot of thread regarding retaking C's and how is it not beneficial to retake these core classes, but how about for person who have very low GPA? I have these core classes that I took 10 years ago and I did not do well. These courses I have taken back in 2008-2009 at community college: Gen Chem 1: C Gen Chem 2: C Calculus: C General Bio: C General Bio II: D Physics 1-3: All C's Genetics: D Recently at university: Organic Chemistry 1: B Organic Chemistry... Any advice for me?
30 year old Stepdown RN with 2 years experience, finishing up BSN in December. Anticipated cGPA around 3.7. I have general Chem, organic Chem, physics, and biochem left for prereqs. LSU NO hopeful. I am contracted at my hospital full-time until April 2019. I'm currently volunteering at the coroners office performing autopsies (basically do everything. The pathologist just takes the body parts and assesses them). And also volunteering at YMCA assisting teaching prediabetes education. (An... Any advice for me? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How much chemistry knowledge is required to prescribe medication to patients?
Greetings and thank you for expressing interest in my post. I'm not particularly a chemistry fanatic and I'm curious what kind of chemistry I would be using on a daily basis when prescribing medication. Would it be basic chemistry like converting units and whatnot? I have yet to take organic chemistry so I would prefer to be informed before committing to a career which requires skills that are not my forte (nor my passion). In addition to my question, any descriptions of the day in the... How much chemistry knowledge is required to prescribe medication to patients? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Doctoral Student Potentially Transitioning to Medical School
There are similar posts on here so I apologize for redundancy - I am currently nearing the end of my doctoral program (Neuropsychology) and may use it as a stepping stone to medical school. I had an undergraduate minor in Human Biology, so many pre-med courses are done. However, there are others such as Organic Chemistry, Physics, etc. that will need to be taken. It is worth noting that my career goals currently remain the same (clinical research-based), but I believe that medical school...
