Career changer planning to apply for master in biomedical science
So I plan to apply to a masters program in the biology field. I have a BA in English and have completed lower division science courses such as Gen Bio, Gen Chem, anatomy and physiology, and first semester organic chemistry. I know most of not all ask for a statement of intention which generally ask about what research I have done. I haven’t done research (I think) but I am currently a lab technician and just got a position as a Jr scientist. Would any of those count? How can a career... chances? I submitted my dental school application by mid- august, still haven't receive any interview.
Hey guys, I still haven't receive any interview from any dental school that I applied. I submitted my application by mid-August. My Science GPA is lower than average 3.22. My DAT average is 19. PAT:21, Quantitative reasoning:19, Reading 19, Biology 19, chemistry 20, Organic chemistry 20. Is any suggestion here? I am stressful and worry about that I won't get any interview at all. I applied to 15 dental school, denied by UCSF and loma linda. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Take an easy class?
This semester I am taking: Organic chemistry 2 with lab- 5 credits Signaling pathways in physiology- 3 credits Biochemistry- 3 credits I need to take 12 credits. This is my last semester. I will have completed all the prerequisites with these. Would it matter if I took something non- science? My science gpa is a 3.3. I plan on taking classes after graduating most likely. I am paying for this semester out of pocket so I am trying to be reasonable with my expenses. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How good is TBR for Orgo
A lot of people say TBR is the best for C/P section. I was wondering if that includes Organic Chemistry as well or they mean General Chemistry and Physics. Sorry for the dumb question I'm a bit confuse. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Do I need to take another Physics class?
I came into college with AP credits for Physics, and I used them to place into advanced courses. I have taken: Modern Physics and Thermodynamics (Physics Department) Physical Chemistry (Chemistry Department) Physical Organic Chemistry (Chemistry Department) Physical Methods of Biochemistry (Biochemistry Department) All of these classes required Electricity and Magnetism as a prereq. Currently, I've only used the AP credit to count for placement in case I needed to actually take the class... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Low subsection score
Hi everyone, I took my DAT yesterday and here were the scores: PAT 19 QR 17 RC 23 Bio 17 GC 19 OC 15 TS 17 AA 18 My GPA is a 3.34, I have 4 letters of recommendation, I work in research science at Washington University School of Medicine, and I am a minority. I feel that I am well a rounded applicant, but my organic score terrifies me! What are my chances? Has anyone ever gotten in with a 15 in organic? Could a decent PAT, GC, and QR out shine the 15? My school choices are SIU SDM, BU... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Non-UNE/Doane online pre req options
What are some non-UNE/Doane online pre req options that anybody has experience with? UNE and Doane seem to be the most popular choices but these classes are pretty expensive so I've been searching for alternatives. So far I've found that Barton Community College in Kansas offers every general pre-req that med schools require (gen chem, physics, organic chem, bio-all including labs). Thanks! Retaking a Course
Hi everyone! I had a question about retaking a course. I didn't do good in Organic Chemistry. Got a C-. I know most schools are accepting pass/fail grades but they recommend a letter grade. Should I just put the course on pass/fail and take the "P"? I also was looking at how Optomcas reviews it and if I do not do the pass/fail and retake it then both grades will be incorporated into my gpa. Right now I am thinking I should just take the P and retake the course in the summer I will be... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

My OAT Experience
I just wanted to share with you all about my OAT experience in August 2020. Although I did not get an almost perfect sore, I still think it would be still helpful to those writing or in the process of writing the OAT. I studied for this exam for about one and a half months using the Kaplan book, and Chad's videos. The subjects I studied in order were: general chem, physics, organic chem, and bio. I did not study for the reading comp or quant reasoning sections. I do not recommend this... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Nurse would like advice about medical school: my history, my GPA, my failed classes, prereqs, and labs during COVID?
I am a new gradate nurse working in a NICU. I've been working since June 2020. My nursing undergraduate GPA is 3.64 and science GPA of 3.85 (in nursing school I took Organic Bio Chem, Anatomy & Physiology I+II, Microbiology, Nutrition, Pathophysiology I+II). I received an a A in all science classes except Organic Bio Chem (Grade = B). No C's on my nursing transcript...just A's and B's. I was active member in school: -I was inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta (Freshman Year), My College's... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Organic Chemistry B
What is considered poor in organic chemistry? I just did my final for Ochem1 and I didn't find the material hard throughout the semester, but I did make silly mistakes that cost me marks. I think that I am going to get a B overall if I am lucky. My first two midterms I did get A-. I know that O chem is a weed out class, and seeing as other students in my class got 100% in some of the quizzes and midterms, I feel like I did pretty bad. Its making me reconsider if I then have the academic... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What to do?
I am finishing up organic chemistry 1 and will end up with a C. I took general chemistry 1 and 2 and received an A and C respectfully. I know it would not be wise to retake a C or better. I am planning to take the second semester of organic chemistry with the lab and biochemistry in the spring. This semester result makes me second guess this plan. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Pre-requisites taken from community college
Hi all!! I graduated from a 4 year university after transferring from a community college. I took English composition I and II, general chemistry I and II, Orgo I, and physics I and II from CC. I majored in biochemistry afterwards, so I took orgo II, higher level organic chem, p chem, other bio chem courses from the 4 year University. Do the admission committees count good grades on other (P Chem) or upper level (advanced organic chem) and take things flexible on the course requirement? Or...
