Having a Hard Time Getting the Right Mindset for Organic Chemistry
I'm in a postbac, and my organic chemistry class is notoriously hard. I'm not doing as well as I've hoped, and I think a lot of it comes down to the way I'm approaching the class. Our professor includes a lot of foundational nuances in questions on top of what we are actually learning in the unit. For instance, even though I understand the mechanism of a reaction, I may get the entire question wrong because I didn't recognize that one chemical was not very basic even though it appeared to... Course help?
With this semester being almost complete I’m starting to plan my next semester. As of right now my course load is organic chemistry 1 with the lab, and genetics seated. I’m also taking two online classes which are Spanish and fundamental’s of scientific investigation. With this in mind The question is would it be too much of a risk to add in a 1hr general elective class for a biology learning assistant. I think it would look good on my resume but don’t want to overload myself. Keeping in... Course help? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Semesterly Academic Pressure- Too much?
The following is the coursework I plan to take next semester with the professor's "rate my professor" ratings. Do you believe it would be possible to manage this semester (as in get all A's maybe one A-? I've done pretty well in semester 1 O-Chem.) . I will be in courses for a time of approximately 15 hours, plus mentoring for 3 hours as well. Organic Chemistry 2 with Lab (4.5) (lab is a separate course) Genetics (4.0) Ecology (3.4) *I am aware that I should learn how to become a more... Semesterly Academic Pressure- Too much? Will going to UCSC hurt my chances?
I am mostly aiming at California medical schools. Also, another unrelated question. For my major, I have to option of either taking a bio lab and 2 organic chemistry labs or Introduction to basic lab techniques in biology and foundations of design and experimentation in molecular biology 1 and 2, both of which are labs. Would it make a difference? Also, my major requires applied electronics 1 and 2. Could I use that instead of physics? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I got an interview in less than 24hrs!
To my first choice! Creighton distance. I am so excited! PharmCAS took forever to fix my transcripts so the application just went through at about 3am and by 2:55pm I had an invitation email!!! Yay! Also, I got straight As! Organic Chemistry II, Calculus, Physical Science and Anthropology. Everything's coming up Milhouse! Anyone else interviewing? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Wamc
Hello all, I am wondering if anyone would be willing to give me an advice, tips, words of encouragement, etc. I am a 24 year old undergrad student with one year left after this semester ends. I plan to apply to vet school possible next year. My current GPA is 3.66, but after this semester I am estimating a 3.46 (I am really struggling with gen chem 1 and am sitting at a C). I only have a few more classes left to take, (organic chem, biochem, and physics). I have not yet taken the GRE. I am... WAMC (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Study Tips for Organic Chemistry
Hello everyone, this is my first time posting in SDN. I have found some really helpful stuff on this website. I am currently a second-year student with a business management major and pre-med courses. As everyone knows, organic chemistry is one of the requirements for pre-med students. I haven't seen anything specifically on studying tips on organic chemistry knowing this is a very challenging course. I already have the book organic chemistry as a second language and have been practicing... Study Tips for Organic Chemistry (Source: Student Doctor Network)

staying motivated to study for the MCAT...
Hi all. I am feeling discouraged and need some advice. I don't enjoy chemistry. I don't enjoy organic chemistry. I don't enjoy physics. I find it hard to stay motivated to study for the mcat with such dry, difficult material. anyone else feel this way? how do you stay motivated? is this indicative of what med school will be like? What is the summer of application cycles like?
I am planning on applying next year for admission to enter medical school in Fall 2021. I hope to take the MCAT in April/May. I plan on applying to 16-20 schools. How busy will I be with applications during that summer? Could I reasonably do any summer classes? I was considering doing Organic Chemistry II Lab and Biochemistry Lab during that summer (to save time to study for the MCAT during my Spring 2020 semester). (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MCAT Timeline Advice
I'm a transfer student at my university, and my classes have been a little messed up. I'm in my junior year and currently taking Organic I, Physics I, Genetics. Spring semester I've got Organic II, Physics II, and Biochem. As for the MCAT, I'm thinking about two options: 1. Finish this semester and start studying over Christmas break. Next semester take Organic II and Physics II; cut out biochem to allow more time to study. Take the MCAT in May to submit an application this cycle... Organic Chemistry Grade
Hi everyone! I'm currently in the first semester of my sophomore year taking organic chem with lab, physics with lab and some gen eds. I finished my freshman year with a 3.75 cumulative but physics and organic are definitely a little bit harder than I expected. It looks like I will probably finish my gen Eds and labs with As but I took my first organic exam last night and I got a 76 on it. I don't think that will be hard to bring up to a B as we have 2 more exams, a final, and a bunch of... Organic Chemistry Grade (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Biochemistry Questions
I got wrong for these questions. Can you please give me answers and explain why? 1. What is the organic compounds that provide phosphate to produce ATP from ADP during short intense activity? (It gives burst energy while our body increase glycosis and fatty acids degration) 2. What is the amount of energy is released during the group transfer from #1. If it is 10.4 Kcal/mole, what is the amount of energy released during a phosphate group transfer from ATP? I appreciate your help! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

3 week organic chemistry course? Good idea?
My school offers an intensive 3 week course of organic chemistry 1, which is followed by organic chemistry 2 (12 week course). This would allow me to finish the organic chemistry requirement in one semester. I feel like medical schools will think this is a bit odd. Should I take the 3 week when the time comes or stick to the regular length classes? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

When do students usually take biochem?
Do they usually take it second semester sophomore year? If so is this to help allow for a summer MCAT test? Additionally do they take it the same time as organic chemistry 2? Finally would you recommend taking biochem before the MCAT? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
