Perturbations in human bile acid profiles following drug-induced liver injury investigated using semitargeted high-resolution mass spectrometry
CONCLUSION: An optimized chromatographic separation tailored to BAs of ranging polarities was combined with accurate mass measurements to investigate the effect that DILI has on their complex profiles and metabolism to a much wider extent than previously possible. The analysis of complex BA profiles enabled in-depth analysis of the BA metabolism perturbations in ALF, including certain metabolites related to patient outcomes.PMID:38469943 | DOI:10.1002/rcm.9731 (Source: Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry : RCM)

Targeting gut microbiota to counteract acetaminophen-induced acute liver injury
Trends Microbiol. 2024 Mar 11:S0966-842X(24)00051-9. doi: 10.1016/j.tim.2024.02.011. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAcetaminophen (N-acetyl-p-aminophenol; APAP) overdose-induced acute liver injury (AILI) is a huge threat to public health worldwide. Recent research clearly shows that the intestinal microbiota (IM) is a key modulator in AILI. Herein, I discuss the latest findings on how the IM regulates AILI and the potential interventions to combat AILI by targeting the IM.PMID:38472076 | DOI:10.1016/j.tim.2024.02.011 (Source: Trends in Microbiology)

Secondary hypophysitis associated with Rathke's cleft cyst resembling a pituitary abscess
CONCLUSION: We report a case of hypophysitis secondary to RCC resembling PA with ring-shaped contrast enhancement on MRI and increased signal intensity on DWI. This case emphasizes the need for cautious diagnosis of secondary hypophysitis due to RCC in individuals with MRIs and clinical manifestations resembling an abscess.PMID:38468645 | PMC:PMC10927231 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_947_2023 (Source: Surgical Neurology International)
