A Rare Lipoma of Tongue in a 4-Year-Old Child: A Case Report With Literature Review
Ear Nose Throat J. 2024 Mar 12:1455613241237083. doi: 10.1177/01455613241237083. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLipoma of the tongue is a rare benign tumor that accounts for approximately 1% to 5% of all oral cavity tumors while 0.3% of tumors are of the tongue. Notably, it is rarer in children. In this article, we report the case of a 4-year-old girl with lipomas of the tongue. The lipomas were found at age 1 year by her parents, located on the tip, ventro, and dorsum of the tongue, and presenting with a trend to increase gradually. At the time of presentation to the hospital at age 4 years, the articulatory function of th...

Spindle cell lipoma: a rare case report on the hallux
We report a 24-year-old man with spindle cell lipomas on the hallux of his left foot. He experienced an uneventful recovery after excision of the mass. We discuss clinical, radiologic, and histopathologic features of spindle cell lipomas and we review the differential diagnosis at this anatomic site. (Source: Dermatology Online Journal)

Indolent growth of low ‑grade myofibroblastic sarcoma of the knee with the resemblance of a benign lesion: A case report
Oncol Lett. 2024 Feb 19;27(4):163. doi: 10.3892/ol.2024.14296. eCollection 2024 Apr.ABSTRACTLow-grade myofibroblastic sarcoma (LGMS) is a rare soft-tissue malignant neoplasm originating from the stromal cells that is predominantly comprised of atypical myofibroblasts. The present study reports the case of a patient with low-grade myofibroblastic sarcoma in the soft tissue of the knee. The patient exhibited a soft, painless mass on the medial side of the left knee. During surgery, a yellow-white mass above the posterior margin of the sartorius muscle was identified. This mass, which was irregular and adherent to surrounding...

Elbow calcific tendinosis initially detected by ultrasonography: a case report
Discussion and conclusionRadiography is the most common and practical imaging modality for calcific tendinosis diagnosis. Despite this, the real-time nature of ultrasonography makes it both diagnostic and therapeutic in this condition. Other conditions, such as lipoma, may interfere with the proper diagnosis of calcific tendinosis. (Source: Journal of Medical Case Reports)

Management of Diaphragm Tumors
Diaphragm tumors are very rare, with secondary tumors being more common than primary tumors. The most common benign primary tumors include lipomas and cysts, and malignant primary tumors include rhabdomyosarcoma and leiomyosarcoma. Endometriosis is the most common benign secondary tumor, followed by malignant tumors with localized spread of disease. In addition, widely metastatic disease has been described. Benign lipomas and cysts can be managed conservatively, but more complex or concerning disease typically requires resection. The diaphragm can often be repaired primarily, though any large defect or tension would indica...

Multiple cutaneous myxofibrosarcoma on the right arm: Clinicopathological features and differential diagnosis
Multiple cutaneous myxofibrosarcoma on the right arm. Key Clinical MessageThe clinical presentations and pathological features of low-grade myxofibrosarcoma can be misleading, frequently resulting in diagnostic errors. An accurate diagnosis requires the application of immunohistochemistry techniques and the discerning diagnostic acumen of experienced pathologists. A 62-year-old male patient visited our outpatient clinic with multiple painful and rapidly enlarging subcutaneous nodules on his right forearm. Initially, the condition was misdiagnosed as multiple lipomas. The final pathology revealed characteristics consistent ...

A 5  kg giant breast lipoma in a 40-year-old woman: a case report
CONCLUSION: Giant breast lipoma is an infrequent condition that can manifests as progressive enlargement of the breast, posing a diagnostic challenge due to its resemblance to various benign or malignant pathologies.PMID:38333323 | PMC:PMC10849441 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000001683 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

Effects of Interobserver Segmentation Variability and Intensity Discretization on MRI-Based Radiomic Feature Reproducibility of Lipoma and Atypical Lipomatous Tumor
In conclusion, MRI radiomic features of lipoma and ALT are reproducible regardless of the segmentation approach and intensity discretization method, although a certain degree of interobserver variability highlights the need for a preliminary reliability analysis in future studies. Therapeutic potential of AAV-FL-Klotho in obesity: Impact on weight loss and lipid metabolism in mice
In this study, we demonstrate that AAV-full length(FL)-Klotho administration induces weight loss in mice and provides protection against high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity and hepatic steatosis, concurrently reducing the weights of white adipose tissue and liver. AAV-FL-Klotho administration also enhanced thermogenic gene expression in brown adipose tissue (BAT) and improved the morphology of interscapular BAT. The weight loss effect of AAV-FL-Klotho was found to be, at least in part, mediated by UCP1-dependent thermogenesis in brown adipocytes, potentially influenced by hepatokines secreted from AAV-FL-Klotho-transduced ...
