Contrast-enhanced ultrasound reveals perfusion differences between benign lipoma and semi-malignant atypical lipomatous tumors: A prospective clinical study
CONCLUSION: CEUS may enhance the differential diagnosis of benign lipomas and ALTs, with ALTs showing higher levels of perfusion. If larger prospective studies confirm these findings, CEUS could enhance diagnostic accuracy, guide surgical planning, and potentially reduce unnecessary treatments for patients presenting with ambiguous lipomatous tumors like lipoma or ALT.

Case Report: Primary low-grade dedifferentiated liposarcoma of the urinary bladder with molecular confirmation
Liposarcomas originating in the urinary bladder are extremely rare. Only six cases of bladder liposarcoma have been reported, and all have been described as myxoid liposarcomas. Notably, none of the patients underwent molecular testing. Here, we report a dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDL) that occurred in the urinary bladder, primarily in a 69-year-old Chinese woman, with infrequent low-grade dedifferentiation. Computed tomography (CT) revealed an ill-defined solid mass in the anterior bladder wall. The patient underwent a partial bladder resection. Histologically, the tumor cells with mild-to-moderate nuclear atypia were ...

Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 with Zollinger –Ellison syndrome: clinicopathological analysis of a Japanese family with focus on menin immunohistochemistry
ConclusionPancreaticoduodenectomy is the most effective treatment for ZES. Long-term follow-up is essential for pulmonary NET G2 owing to the risk of distant metastasis and/or multiplicity. Moreover, the variability of menin IHC in MEN1-related tumors may indicate the pattern of tumor formation rather than the diagnostic utility of menin in MEN1. (Source: Frontiers in Endocrinology)

APC mosaicism, not always isolated: two first-degree relatives with apparently distinct APC mosaicism
APC mosaicism is briefly mentioned in the recently published BSG guidelines on hereditary colorectal cancer.1 We wish to present a family that underlines its relevance. A 26-year-old woman presented at the department of Clinical Genetics at Leiden University Medical Center with osteomas, lipomas, extra tooth and bowel problems. Using Sanger sequencing on leucocyte DNA, a pathogenic APC variant (NM_000038.6:c.4391_4394delAGAG) was detected with variant allele frequency of 20%–40%, indicating mosaicism. Subsequent colonoscopy and gastroduodenoscopy showed >200 colorectal adenomas in a patchy pattern and large variat...

The Evaluation of Lipoma Arborescens with Intermittent Knee Joint Effusion Based on an Analysis of Serum Cytokine Levels and an Immunohistological Examination: A Case Report
Intern Med. 2023 Sep 29. doi: 10.2169/internalmedicine.2393-23. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWe herein report a 27-year-old woman who presented with recurrent knee pain. Laboratory findings revealed minimal inflammation. Arthrography revealed structures resembling adipose tissues. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a high signal intensity of these structures, leading to the diagnosis of lipoma arborescens (LA). Synovectomy was performed. Pathology revealed adipocyte proliferation and B-cell clusters but no T-cell infiltration. A serum cytokine analysis revealed low levels of interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α compa...

Discoidin Domain Receptor Tyrosine Kinase 1 (DDR1) Is a Novel Therapeutic Target in Liposarcoma: A Tissue Microarray Study
CONCLUSION: DDR1 is aberrantly expressed in liposarcoma, and it contributes to several markers of oncogenesis in these tumors.CLINICAL RELEVANCE: This work supports DDR1 as a promising therapeutic target in liposarcoma.PMID:37768856 | DOI:10.1097/CORR.0000000000002865 (Source: Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research)

Pounding score of intracranial lipomas
(A, B) Head CT. Upper row: (A) is a lipoma in the right lateral ventricle and (B) in the third ventricle. (white arrow). Lower row: It can be confirmed that both A and B are not air under lung field conditions. (black circle). Key Clinical MessageMost intracranial lipomas are asymptomatic, but headache is the most common symptom. The pounding score is sometimes high. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor imaging findings in parallel with the treatment of migraine. (Source: Clinical Case Reports)
