Cross-Country Validation of the Arabic Version of the Prodromal Questionnaire –Brief (PQ‐B) in Young Adults from the General Population of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region
AbstractThe concept of early intervention in psychosis is still novel and evolving in some Arab countries, while completely non-existent in most of the other countries. What further complicates the introduction of this concept in the Arab world is the lack of easy-to-use and low-cost Arabic language screening tools. We aimed through the present study to perform a cross-country validation of the Prodromal Questionnaire –Brief (PQ‐B) into the Arabic language. We conducted a cross-sectional cross-national analysis based on 3247 respondents from six countries (i.e., Tunisia, Lebanon, Kuwait, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco). All pa...

The Supervisees' Perspectives Concerning the Clinical Supervision of Radiologic Sciences Students at Clinical Sites: Implications and Future Directions
CONCLUSION: The effectiveness of CS has been evaluated in third and fourth year students across the two divisions of RS the department at Kuwait University. This study showed that students value the impact of CS in their professional role and 70% reported being satisfied with the overall CS experience. Limited studies are available that focuses on students' perceptions about clinical supervision; therefore, more studies are needed to evaluate the effectiveness of CS among RS students. Implications for interprofessional education are presented.PMID:37016623 | PMC:PMC10066897 | DOI:10.2147/AMEP.S397035 (Source: Adv Data)

Chronic heat stress induces the expression of HSP genes in the retina of chickens (Gallus gallus)
This study was conducted during the summers of 2020 and 2021 in Kuwait. Chickens (Gallus gallus) were divided into control and heat-treated groups and sacrificed at different developmental stages. Retinas were extracted and analyzed by using Real Time quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-qPCR).Results: Our results from the summer of 2021 were similar to that from the summer of 2020, regardless of whether GAPDH or RPL5 was used as a gene normalizer. All five HSP genes were upregulated in the retina of 21-day-old heat-treated chickens and stayed upregulated until 35 days of age, with the exception of HSP40, which was ...

Seasonal, Geographic, and Ethnic Influence on the Prevalence of Orofacial Clefts in Kuwait: A Nationwide Study
CONCLUSIONS: The study outcome is an indicator to improve patient care and customize healthcare infrastructure in the Ministry of Health. It also provides insight to develop projections of future needs. Effect of COVID-19 vaccine on blood glucose metrics in Arabic people with type 1 diabetes
ConclusionWe found a temporary impairment in glucose control in the first 7 days, particularly among individuals receiving viral vector vaccines. The group receiving mRNA vaccine was likely to experience an increase in glucose levels above the target range. However, the temporary change in metrics appears to return to pre-vaccination levels after one-week post-vaccination. The effects on glycemic parameters were more neutral after the second dose.
