Rev Neurol (Paris). 2023 Aug 17:S0035-3787(23)00994-3. doi: 10.1016/j.neurol.2023.08.005. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRapid eye movement (REM) sleep behavior disorder (RBD) is a parasomnia characterized by the absence of normal muscle atonia during REM sleep, resulting in excessive motor activity while dreaming. RBD can be classified as isolated which is the strongest clinical marker of prodromal synucleinopathy, or secondary, associated with other neurological diseases, mainly Parkinson's disease (PD) and dementia with Lewy bodies. Phenytoin-induced dyskinesia: a case report
ConclusionThis case presented a substantial reference value for the differential diagnosis and treatment prognosis of phenytoin-induced dyskinesia. The phenytoin-induced dyskinesia in this patient was successfully reversed with prompt identification and treatment. Liver enzyme inducing anticonvulsant drug use is associated with prevalent vertebral fracture
ConclusionLEI anticonvulsant use for  ≥ 2 years is associated with higher vertebral fracture prevalence. Lateral spine VFA imaging at the time of bone densitometry may be appropriate for older individuals who have used LEI anticonvulsant medications for ≥ 2 years. (Source: Osteoporosis International)

Retrospective cohort observation on psychotropic drug-drug interaction and identification utility from 3 databases: Drugs.com ®, Lexicomp®, and Epocrates®
ConclusionAmong three databases, interactions detected by Drugs.com ® were greatest in number, whereas Lexicomp® provided the broadest list of medications. Development of such databases, based on both theoretical and clinical conceptions, should be focused to balance safety of patients and weariness of healthcare providers. (Source: PLoS One)

Post-hypoxic myoclonus; what we know and gaps in knowledge
Trop Doct. 2023 Jun 7:494755231181153. doi: 10.1177/00494755231181153. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPost-hypoxic myoclonus (PHM) is a rare neurological complication having two different variants depending on acute or chronic onset after cardiopulmonary resuscitation following cardiac arrest: myoclonic status epilepticus (MSE) and Lance-Adams syndrome (LAS) respectively. Clinical and simultaneous electro-encephalographic (EEG) and electromyographic (EMG) tracing can distinguish between the two. Anecdotal treatment with benzodiazepines and anaesthetics (in the case of MSE) have been tried. Although limited evidence is avail...
