Subjective Outcome after Discontinuation of Botulinum Toxin-A Detrusor Injection for Lower Urinary Tract Disorders: The Majority Suffers!
Conclusion: The majority of patients who did not continue BoNT-A therapy are still suffering from lower urinary tract symptoms. The lack of efficacy was the reason for stopping the BoNT-A injection therapy for less than half of the patients. From the patient ’s point of view, reasons other than the effectiveness also seem to be relevant in the choice of the treatment. When changing therapy, most returned to drug treatment. However, for the majority of patients with any follow-up therapy, this therapy could not improve the symptoms.Urol Int (Source: Urologia Internationalis)

Prophylaxis of Recurrent Stone Disease in Outpatient Clinics in Germany: A Quality-of-Care Concern
Conclusion: General recommendations for stone formers are usually provided, but nutritional advice tends to be incomplete. Our results raise quality-of-care concerns: Metabolic evaluation of stone formers at high risk of recurrence is uncommon. Structural changes are required due to time constraints, and poor remuneration must be addressed to improve patient care.Urol Int (Source: Urologia Internationalis)

An in vitro Comparative Assessment of Single-Use Flexible Ureteroscopes Using a Standardized Ureteroscopy Training Model
Conclusions: Using a standardized in vitro simulation model with enhanced fluoroscopic capabilities, we demonstrated both objective and subjective differences between models of su-fURS. However, variations in perception of scope features (visibility, image quality, deflection, maneuverability, ease of stone retrieval) did not translate into actual technical performance. Eventually, the optimal choice of su-fURS fundamentally lies in individual surgeon preference, as well as cost-related factors.Urol Int (Source: Urologia Internationalis)

Hypertension Resolution after Laparoscopic Adrenal Tumor Resection in Patients of Adrenal Incidentaloma with Normal Hormone Levels
Conclusion: Adrenal incidentalomas patients with hypertension and normal hormone levels would perform hypertension resolution after laparoscopic adrenal tumor resection, especially for females with low BMI, high preoperative systolic blood pressure, and high APR (erect position).Urol Int (Source: Urologia Internationalis)

Quality of Life, Efficacy, and Safety of Sequential Intravesical Gemcitabine + Docetaxel versus BCG for Non-Muscle Invasive Urinary Bladder Cancer: A Pilot Study
Conclusion: Gem/Doce combination intravesical therapy is a promising alternative to BCG for treatment of NMIBC, showing better QOL measures and lesser side effects.Urol Int (Source: Urologia Internationalis)

The Effect of Transurethral Resection of the Prostate on Erectile and Ejaculatory Functions in Patients with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
Conclusion: The results confirmed that TURP has no significant negative influence on EF, and patients with preexisting ED were improved after TURP. On the contrary, the loss of EJF was significant.Urol Int (Source: Urologia Internationalis)

The Prognostic Impact of PD-L2 in Papillary Renal-Cell Carcinoma
Conclusion: PD-L2 expression did not qualify as an independent prognostic marker in pRCC. Future studies will have to determine whether anti-PD-L2-targeted treatment may play a role in pRCC and expression can potentially serve as a predictive marker for these therapeutic approaches.Urol Int (Source: Urologia Internationalis)

Nerve-Sparing Laparoscopic Cystoprostatectomy Based on Inferior Hypogastric Plexus Dissection: Our Initial Experience
Conclusion: In addition to emphasizing our cavernosal nerve-sparing procedure, this report on the precise dissection and protection of the inferior hypogastric plexus could be of clinical significance, providing potentially ideal short-term functional results.Urol Int (Source: Urologia Internationalis)

Non-Hunner ’s Interstitial Cystitis Is Different from Hunner’s Interstitial Cystitis and May Be Curable by Uterosacral Ligament Repair
Background: The posterior fornix syndrome (PFS) was first described in 1993 as a predictably occurring group of symptoms: chronic pelvic pain (CPP), urge, frequency, nocturia, emptying difficulties/urinary retention, caused by uterosacral ligament (USL) laxity, and cured by repair thereof.Summary: Our hypothesis was that non-Hunner ’s interstitial cystitis (IC) and PFS are substantially equivalent conditions. The primary objective was to determine if there was a causal relationship between IC and pelvic organ prolapse (POP). The secondary objective was to assess whether other pelvic symptoms were present in patients with...

ANLN Serves as an Oncogene in Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma via Activating JNK Signaling Pathway
Conclusion: ANLN, as an oncogene of BLCA, may associate with the activation of JNK signal pathway. Inhibiting ANLN could deactivate the JNK signal pathway, thereby suppressing the proliferation, invasion, and migration while promoting the apoptosis of BLCA cells.Urol Int (Source: Urologia Internationalis)

Interleukin-2 and Interferon- α for Advanced Renal Cell Carcinoma: Patient Outcomes, Sexual Dimorphism of Responses, and Multimodal Treatment Approaches over a 30-Year Period
Conclusions: We provide evidence that IT with s.c. IL-2 and IFN- α played a vital role in long-term survivors either by inducing lasting complete remissions or as part of multimodal approaches that allowed patients to survive until novel therapies became available. The implications for current immune oncological treatment approaches are being discussed.Urol Int (Source: Urologia Internationalis)

Ureteral Stenosis and Fistula after Kidney Transplantation
Conclusion: Surgical repair of ureteral complications offers satisfactory results with low associated morbidity. Endourological techniques are less effective and should be reserved for selected cases. With adequate management, there is no impact on graft survival.Urol Int (Source: Urologia Internationalis)

Who Is at Risk of Death after Renal Trauma? An Analysis of Thirty-Day Mortality after 1,799 Cases of Renal Trauma
Conclusion: Our large multi-institutional study supports that the 30DM of 3.27% after renal trauma is due to the high degree of associated injuries and was rarely a consequence of renal trauma alone. Age #x3e;40 years, hemodynamic instability, anemia, bilateral renal trauma, arterial contrast extravasation, and concomitant visceral and bone lesions were predictors of death. These results can help clinicians to identify high-risk patients.Urol Int (Source: Urologia Internationalis)

Onlay Pedicled Transverse Skin Flap versus One-Stage Inlay Buccal Mucosal Graft in Penile Urethroplasty: A Prospective Matched-Pair Analysis
Conclusion: Early results indicate comparable success rates of PSF and BMG in penile urethroplasty. Further studies with larger sample size and longer follow-up periods are required to evaluate subtle differences between both techniques.Urol Int (Source: Urologia Internationalis)
