Lessons from prospective longitudinal follow-up of a French APECED cohort
CONCLUSION: This first prospective cohort showed a high AIRE genotype variability, with two new gene variants. The prevalence of potentially life-threatening non-endocrine manifestations, was higher with systematic screening. These manifestations could, along with age-dependent B-cell lymphopenia, contribute to disease severity. Systematic screening for all the manifestations of the syndrome would allow earlier diagnosis, supporting vaccination, and targeted therapeutic approaches.PMID:38605470 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae211 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)

Metabolic effects of testosterone added to intensive lifestyle intervention in older men with obesity and hypogonadism
CONCLUSION: In older men with obesity and hypogonadism, adding TRT for six months to LT does not result in further improved cardiometabolic profiles, and could potentially blunt some of the metabolic benefits induced by LT.PMID:38606934 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae249 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)

Zoledronate after denosumab discontinuation: Is repeated administrations more effective than single infusion?
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with uncontrolled CTX levels after Dmab withdrawal, two ZOL infusions at 6 months apart do not prevent BMD loss and FX.PMID:38609157 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae224 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)

Depression, Anxiety, and Risk of Metabolic Syndrome in Women With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: A Longitudinal Study
CONCLUSIONS: Patients with PCOS and depression and/or anxiety have a high risk of developing MetSyn, with a stronger association between depression and MetSyn. Our findings highlight the urgent need for guideline-directed screening for depression and anxiety at time of diagnosis of PCOS as well as screening at subsequent visits to facilitate risk stratification for metabolic monitoring and early intervention in this high-risk group.PMID:38609160 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae256 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)

Substituting carbohydrate at lunch for added protein increases fat oxidation during subsequent exercise in healthy males
CONCLUSION: Substituting carbohydrate for protein in a pre-exercise lunch increased fat oxidation, suppressed subjective and hormonal appetite, and reduced post-exercise energy intake.PMID:38609167 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae237 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)

Insulinemic and inflammatory dietary patterns show enhanced predictive potential for gestational diabetes mellitus risk
CONCLUSIONS: Utilizing both empirical dietary indexes, EDIP and EDIH, might offer a potentially more effective approach in preventing GDM when compared to solely focusing on adherence to the Mediterranean diet pattern.PMID:38609168 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae238 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)

Impact of Distinct Anti-Androgen Exposures on the Plasma Metabolome in Feminizing Gender-Affirming Hormone Therapy
CONCLUSION: Our results suggest an anti-atherogenic signature in the plasma metabolome after the first six months of feminizing GAHT, with cyproterone acetate also reducing specific plasma amino acids. This study provides novel insight into the metabolic changes occurring across feminizing GAHT.PMID:38609170 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae226 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)
