The Interactive Effects of Sedentary Time, Physical Activity, and Fat Mass on Insulin Resistance in the Young Population
CONCLUSIONS: Promoting LPA while decreasing body fat mass and ST may be considered crucial intervention targets to attenuate the risk of hyperinsulinemia and insulin resistance from childhood through young adulthood.PMID:38441224 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae135 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)

Impact of impaired awareness of hypoglycemia on glucose decline during and after exercise in T1D: The T1DEXI Study
CONCLUSION: Individuals with IAH have a higher underlying risk of hypoglycemia than 'Aware' individuals. Exercise does not appear to differentially increase risk for hypoglycemia during the activity, or in the subsequent 24-hours for IAH compared to Aware individuals with T1D.PMID:38441232 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae115 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)

Analytical Validation of a Telomerase Reverse Transcriptase (TERT) Promoter Mutation Assay
CONCLUSION: The analytical robustness and reproducibility of the Afirma TERT test support its routine clinical use among thyroid nodules with indeterminate cytology that are Afirma GSC suspicious or among Bethesda V/VI nodules.PMID:38441247 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae134 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)

Pediatric Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma: Clinical Presentations and Long-term Outcomes in 144 Patients Over Six Decades
CONCLUSIONS: sMTC is primarily a RET-driven disease that represents 14% of childhood-onset MTC in this cohort. Pediatric sMTC patients are older, present with clinical disease at a more advanced TNM classification, and have more persistent disease at last follow up compared with hMTC, but these differences disappear when comparing those presenting clinically. Somatic molecular testing should be considered in sMTC patients who would benefit from systemic therapy.PMID:38441533 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae133 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)

Revisiting the Effect of Leptin on Alzheimer's Disease and Parkinson's Disease: the Role of Insulin Sensitivity
CONCLUSION: The study offers evidence supporting a potential protective effect of leptin in AD, but not PD, via the enhancement of insulin sensitivity. Our findings underscore the distinct roles of leptin in AD and PD.PMID:38441543 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae136 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)

Characterization of novel PHEX variants in X-linked hypophosphatemic rickets and genotype-PHEX activity correlation
CONCLUSION: Therefore, our findings demonstrated that novel PHEX variants could disrupt protein function via affecting protein synthesis, post-translational modification, cellular trafficking and catalytic activity. Our study facilitates a better understanding of XLHR pathogenic mechanism and PHEX activity-phenotype correlation, which is of crucial importance for future diagnosis and treatment of XLHR.PMID:38442738 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae120 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)

Contralateral suppression in adrenal venous sampling predicts clinical and biochemical outcome in primary aldosteronism
CONCLUSION: A CS >50% was an independent predictor of complete clinical and biochemical cure. Moreover, it can predict unilateral PA and postoperative biochemical hypoaldosteronism. Our findings underscore the usefulness of CS for clinical decision-making.PMID:38442744 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae142 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)
