Critical Role for 24-Hydroxylation in Homeostatic Regulation of Vitamin D Metabolism
CONCLUSIONS: Suppression of 24-hydroxylase provides a first line of defense against symptomatic VitD-deficiency by decreasing metabolic clearance of 1,25(OH)2D. The 1,25(OH)2D/24,25(OH)2D ratio provides a useful index of VitD status since it incorporates 24,25(OH)2D levels and therefore, provides insight into 24-hydroxylase activity. When VitD availability is limited, this suppresses 24-hydroxylase activity - thereby decreasing the level of 24,25(OH)2D and increasing the 1,25(OH)2D/24,25(OH)2D ratio. Thus, an increased 1,25(OH)2D/24,25(OH)2D ratio signifies triggering of homeostatic regulation, which occurs at early stages...

Elagolix Represents a Less Invasive and Cheaper Option than Injectable GnRH Antagonist for Ovulation Suppression in IVF
CONCLUSIONS: Oral GnRH antagonist, a much cheaper and less invasive medication that is used at a lower frequency, showed comparable ovulation suppression to the costly injectable GnRH antagonist. Further studies are required to evaluate the effect of oral GnRH antagonist on endometrial lining receptivity and pregnancy outcomes especially when using fresh embryo transfer IVF protocols.PMID:38482566 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae168 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)

Genetic Links Between Metabolic Syndrome and Osteoarthritis: Insights from Cross-Trait Analysis
CONCLUSION: Our results illustrate a common genetic architecture, pleiotropic loci, as well as causality between MetS and OA, potentially enhancing our knowledge of high comorbidity and genetic processes that overlap between the two disorders.PMID:38482593 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae169 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)

Triglyceride-glucose Index and Mortality in a Large Regional-based Italian Database (Urrah Project)
CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study indicate that these TyG (a low-cost and simple non-invasive marker) thresholds are predictive of an increased risk of mortality in a large and homogeneous general population. In addition, these results show a synergic effect of TyG and SUA on the risk of mortality.PMID:38482609 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae170 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)

Improving Diabetic Wound Healing Outcomes with Topical Growth Factor Therapies: Systematic Review and Network Meta-analysis of Randomised-controlled Trials
CONCLUSION: HUC, hEGF and FGF are promising topical biologics with statistically significant primary outcomes compared to SOC, while PRP is effective in reducing ulcer-related AEs. HUC has been found to be the most effective in terms of cure rate and a reduction in time to cure.PMID:38477463 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae128 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)
