Magnesium hydride protects against acetaminophen-induced acute kidney injury by inhibiting TXNIP/NLRP3/nf- κb pathway
Ren Fail. 2024 Dec;46(1):2330629. doi: 10.1080/0886022X.2024.2330629. Epub 2024 Mar 17.ABSTRACTAcetaminophen (APAP)-induced acute kidney injury (APAP-AKI) has turned into one of reasons for clinic obtained renal insufficiency. Magnesium hydride (MgH2), as a solid-state hydrogen source, might be potentially applied in clinical practice. The current study aimed to investigate the protective effect of MgH2 against APAP-AKI. The results showed that MgH2 improved renal function and histological injury in mice of APAP-AKI. MgH2 also had protective effects on APAP-induced cytotoxicity in HK-2 cells. In addition, the increased lev...

The serum levels of gasdermin D in uremic patients and its relationship with the prognosis: a prospective observational cohort study
CONCLUSION: Serum GSDMD levels were remarkably elevated in patients with ESKD with moderate/severe calcification. In addition, serum levels of GSDMD could be a potential predictive biomarker of moderate/severe VC and prognosis in patients with ESKD.PMID:38486504 | DOI:10.1080/0886022X.2024.2312534 (Source: Renal Failure)

Long-term mortality in patients with end-stage renal disease undergoing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis: a propensity score matching retrospective study
CONCLUSIONS: This study found that long-term mortality rates were higher in the PD group than that in the HD group, indicating that HD may be superior to PD.PMID:38482569 | DOI:10.1080/0886022X.2024.2321320 (Source: Renal Failure)

Efficacy and safety of Mahuang Fuzi and Shenzhuo Decoction for treatment of primary membranous nephropathy: a multicenter prospective trial
CONCLUSIONS: This trial establishes the efficacy of MFSD as a treatment modality for membranous nephropathy. MFSD demonstrates a favorable side effect profile, and remission rates are consistent across patients, irrespective of HIST and age categories.PMID:38482580 | DOI:10.1080/0886022X.2024.2320834 (Source: Renal Failure)

Analysis of chronic kidney disease epidemiology in Kazakhstan using nationwide data for 2014-2020 and forecasting future trends of prevalence and mortality for 2030
This study aims to examine the epidemiology of CKD in Kazakhstan and to project future trends in CKD prevalence and mortality by 2030. The retrospective analysis was performed on a database acquired from the Unified National Electronic Health System for 703,122 patients with CKD between 2014 and 2020. During the observation period, 444,404 women and 258,718 men were registered with CKD, 459,900 (66%) were Kazakhs and 47% were older than 50. The incidence rate notably decreased: 6365 people per million population (PMP) in 2014 and 4040 people PMP in 2020. The prevalence changed from 10,346 to 38,287 people PMP, and the mort...
