Sinonasal Ameloblastoma: A Case Report and a Review of Gnathic Lesions That Occur in the Sinonasal Tract
We report a case of a primary sinonasal ameloblastoma in a 65-year-old man who presented with sinonasal obstruction and rhinorrhea. The clinicopathologic features of this entity are discussed, along with the differential diagnosis and other gnathic lesions that present as sinonasal lesions. (Source: Pathology Case Reviews)

Sinonasal Lymphoma: Extranodal Natural Killer/T-Cell Lymphoma and Its Differential Diagnosis
In this report, we will review the most prevalent entities with a focus on extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma. A sinonasal lymphoma differential diagnosis is provided with review of the epidemiologic, histomorphologic, and immunophenotypic characteristics and discuss diagnostic pitfalls. The discussion is accompanied by representative micrographs, with an explanation of the particular features of each diagnosis. Lastly, we will briefly discuss important clinical characteristics. Low-Grade Biphenotypic Sinonasal Sarcoma: Case Report, Current Understanding, and Differential Diagnosis
Low-grade biphenotypic sinonasal sarcoma (BSS) is a rare, locally aggressive mesenchymal neoplasm of the sinonasal tract defined by dual expression of neural and myogenic antigens and recurrent PAX3 (paired box gene 3) gene rearrangements. We herein present the case of a 53-year-old woman with an incidentally identified lesion on surveillance magnetic resonance imaging for a pituitary microadenoma, ultimately leading to biopsy and resection of a low-grade BSS. Because of its relatively indolent behavior and extensive differential diagnosis, recognition and appropriate diagnostic workup of this entity are of utmost importan...

Nasal Chondromesenchymal Hamartoma in a Patient With DICER1-Predisposition Syndrome
We present the case of an 8-year-old girl with a history of pleuropulmonary blastoma who presented with worsening nasal obstruction and clinical symptoms of sinusitis secondary to a nasal CMH. The diagnosis of nasal CMH is discussed, as well as DICER1 syndrome. (Source: Pathology Case Reviews)

Rhinoscleroma: A Rare Chronic Infectious Cause of Nasal Mass Lesions in the United States
We report the case of a 33-year-old man who presented with a 6-month history of progressive bilateral nasal obstruction that was unresponsive to medical therapy. The patient underwent surgical excision with histologic findings diagnostic of rhinoscleroma. Herein, we present this uncommon case, review the clinical and diagnostic features of rhinoscleroma, and discuss potential clinical and histologic mimics. (Source: Pathology Case Reviews)

Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Thymus Arising in a Spindle Cell Thymoma With Prominent Langerhans Cell Infiltrate
The authors present a case of mixed thymoma and thymic squamous carcinoma. Pleural metastases from the thymoma, which was of the spindled phenotype (type A) were identified in the radical resection specimen. Lymph node metastasis from the carcinoma element was also identified. The thymoma was unique in that there was a prominent Langerhans cell background, a feature previously associated with micronodular thymoma. (Source: Pathology Case Reviews)

Lung Adenocarcinoma Metastatic to the Cervix: Report of a Rare Case and Review of the Literature
We report a case of metastatic lung adenocarcinoma to the cervix. The patient is a 70-year-old woman who was admitted because of acute kidney injury. Imaging studies revealed left-sided hydronephrosis and a 3.2-cm heterogeneous pelvic mass involving the left pelvic wall. The patient underwent hysteroscopy with dilatation and curettage. Specimens labeled with endometrial and endocervical curettings were notable for tumor cells infiltrating the fibromuscular tissue. Immunohistochemical studies showed that the tumor cells were positive for CK7, napsin A, and TTF1, whereas they were negative for PAX8, p16, p40, p53, GATA3, and...

Neuroendocrine Neoplasms of the Lung
In this review, we discuss the clinical and pathologic aspects of epithelial neuroendocrine neoplasms of the lung and compare the current classification with that of gastrointestinal (GI) neuroendocrine neoplasms. Endocrine neoplasms can be broken down into 2 major categories, which, as currently believed, are not part of a continuum, but rather distinct pathogenetic entities. Well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are low-grade malignancies. In the lung, the term “carcinoid” is still applied for these, which are classified as typical or atypical. In the pancreas and GI tract, well-differentiated NETs are gra...

Staging of Resected Lung Cancers
In this review, the authors discuss the current pathologic staging of lung cancers, with emphasis on pointers to filling out synoptic forms. A table that combines clinical staging (which oncologists and surgeons use to direct care) with pathologic underpinnings is provided so that a pathologist can easily translate pTNM stage with clinical stage. The major areas of difficulty in pathologic staging are addressed in separate sections, including margins, multiple nodules, determination of invasion, treatment effect, and invasion of adjacent structures. Common Differential Diagnostic Issues in Lung Cytopathology: 3 Case Reports and a Review
The diagnosis and staging of lung malignancies increasingly rely on the use of cytologic sampling techniques, particularly endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration. Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration is minimally invasive and cost-effective and, most significantly, has been shown to be equivalent to conventional sampling methods. As the role of endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration and other cytologic sampling methods, including transthoracic fine-needle aspiration and bronchoalveolar lavage, expands, diagnostic dilemmas arise that may pose a ...
