Interviews with Indigenous M āori with type 1 diabetes using open-source automated insulin delivery in the CREATE randomised trial
ConclusionM āori experienced open-source AID positively, and aspired to use this therapy; however, structural and socio-economic barriers to equity were identified. This research proposes strength-based solutions which should be considered in the redesign of diabetes services to improve health outcomes for Mā ori with T1D.Trial Registration: The CREATE trial, encompassing this qualitative sub-study, was registered with the Australian New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry (ACTRN12620000034932p) on the 20th January 2020. Bone mineral density status in patients with recent-onset rheumatoid arthritis
Conclusionrecent-onset RA patients are at risk for osteoporosis and its complications, regardless of using glucocorticoids or DMARDs. Demographic factors (e.g. age and female gender), patients ’ MDHAQ scores, and disease-related factors(e.g., DAS-28, positive CRP were associated with reduced BMD levels. Therefore, it is recommended that clinicians investigate early BMD measurements to have a reasonable judgment for further interventions. (Source: Journal of Diabetes and Metabolic Disorders)

Discovery of novel inhibitor of 11 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 using in silico structure-based screening approach for the treatment of type 2 diabetes
ConclusionThe docking study revealed that hydrocortisone cypionate has a higher binding affinity than carbenoxolone and its other analogs. The molecular dynamics simulation indicated the stability of the docked complex of 11 β-HSD1 and hydrocortisone cypionate. These findings indicate the potential use of this FDA approved drug in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. However, validation by in vitro inhibitory studies and clinical trials on type 2 diabetes patients is essential to confirm the current findings. (Source: Journal of Diabetes and Metabolic Disorders)

The levels and trends of diabetes prevalence at national and sub-national levels in Iran (1990 – 2016)
ConclusionSignificant increasing trends of Diabetes led to alarming threat, which can make the strategies and goals of our prevention programs out of control. We should plan for more effective communicative interventions for prevention and management of Diabetes, to be designed, implemented and monitored based on the updated scientific evidence. A bibliometric perspective to the most cited diabetes articles
ConclusionThis study showed that original scientific papers were the most-cited and more articles were published in influential journals. Articles on diabetes treatment and pathogenesis were popular topics. Future interventions should focus on the management and prevention of diabetes. Correlation of glycemic control with salivary oxidative markers in subjects with prediabetes and diabetes: A cross-sectional study
ConclusionThe simultaneous assessment of salivary oxidative and antioxidant factors, revealed weak but a significant positive association between MDA and glycemic status in diabetes. However, further investigations are required to confirm our results. (Source: Journal of Diabetes and Metabolic Disorders)

Potential impact of epicardial fat thickness, pentraxin-3, and high-sensitive C-reactive protein on the risk of non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy
ConclusionPlasma pentraxin-3 and epicardial fat thickness showed more significant association with NPDR than high-sensitive C-reactive protein in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. (Source: Journal of Diabetes and Metabolic Disorders)

Cardiac angiogenesis enhances by activating Mir-126 and related target proteins in type 2 diabetic rats: Rescue combination effect of Sodium butyrate and voluntary exercise therapy
ConclusionThe present findings demonstrated that NaB combined with exercise could improve cardiac angiogenesis by increasing miR-126 and affecting related proteins. Thus, NaB together with voluntary exercise might be a promising intervention for the treatment and prevention of type 2 diabetes. (Source: Journal of Diabetes and Metabolic Disorders)

Ameliorative effects of gallic acid on GLUT-4 expression and insulin resistance in high fat diet-induced obesity animal model mice, Mus musculus
Conclusion: A link exists between insulin resistance, GLUT-4, and IRS-1 expression in the adipose tissue, and the initiation of metabolic syndrome, a condition characterized by obesity. GA may promote insulin signaling, glucose uptake, and lipid metabolism in the adipose tissues by mitigating oxidative stress. GA can also be used to manage obesity-related comorbidities including type 2 diabetes and dyslipidemia. (Source: Journal of Diabetes and Metabolic Disorders)

Association between serum interleukin-6, leptin and insulin in gestational diabetes mellitus – a cross- sectional study
ConclusionAbsence of any significant association between leptin and IL-6 signifies that leptin may not be associated with inflammation in gestational diabetes. However, IL-6 may serve as an early marker for screening glucose intolerance during pregnancy. (Source: Journal of Diabetes and Metabolic Disorders)
