Peptidomics analysis of human breast milk from women with postpartum depression reveals its potential pathogenesis
Int J Dev Neurosci. 2023 Jun 12. doi: 10.1002/jdn.10279. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBACKGROUND: Postpartum depression (PPD) is a prevalent psychiatric disorder during the postnatal period, and it exerts adverse impacts not only on mothers but also on infants, impairing the well-being of the whole family. However, the role of peptides in the breast milk of mothers with PPD has not been studied. The purpose of this study was to unveil the peptidomic profile of PPD from breast milk samples.METHODS: We performed comparative peptidomic profiling of human breast milk from PPD and control mothers using liquid chromatography-ta...

Genetic evaluation of 50 Turkish patients with neurofibromatosis type 1: 2  years experience of a single center
CONCLUSIONS: Early sequencing in all suspected patients followed by deletion/duplication analysis in patients meeting clinical criteria and a case-to-case based consideration for RNA studies seems to be the effective algorithm for NF-1 diagnosis.PMID:37280783 | DOI:10.1002/jdn.10278 (Source: International Journal of Developmental Neuroscience)

Administration of agmatine prior to physical or psychological stress in pregnant mice ameliorates behavioural and cognitive deficits in female offspring
In this study, we aimed to assess whether prenatal agmatine exposure could ameliorate behavioural and cognitive deficits in female offspring born to prenatally stressed mice. Pregnant Swiss Webster (SW) mice were exposed to physical or psychological stress from the 11th to 17th days of gestation. Agmatine (37.5 mg/kg, i.p.) was administrated 30 min before the induction of stress for seven consecutive days. The pups were assessed using a variety of behavioural tests and molecular assays on postnatal days 40 to 47. Agmatine attenuated impairments in locomotor activity, anxiety-like behaviour, and drug-seeking behaviour assoc...

Music alleviates cognitive impairments in an animal model of autism
Int J Dev Neurosci. 2023 May 28. doi: 10.1002/jdn.10260. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAutism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by core symptoms including impairment in social communication and restrictive and repetitive behaviors and interests. Music has emerged in the past decade as an intervention therapy for children with ASD. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of music on cognition impairments in the valproic acid (VPA) rat model of autism. The VPA was administered for animal modeling of autism on embryonic day 12.5 (E12.5) (600 mg/kg). Male and female pups we...
