The promoting effects of Grin2d expression in tumorigenesis and the aggressiveness of esophageal cancer
In this study, we found that Grin2d expression was higher in esophageal cancer than in normal mucosa at both the mRNA and protein level using RT-PCR, bioinformatics analysis, and western blotting (p<0.05). Grin2d mRNA expression was positively correlated with old age, white race, heavy weight, distal location, adenocarcinoma, cancer with Barrett's lesion, or high-grade columnar dysplasia (p<0.05). The differential genes associated with Grin2d mRNA were involved in fat digestion and absorption, cholesterol metabolism, lipid transfer, lipoproteins, synaptic membranes, and ABC transporters (p<0.05). The Grin2d-relate...

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma with non-squamous phenotype may be a variant of nasopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma after inhibition of EGFR/PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway
Histol Histopathol. 2023 Nov 8:18673. doi: 10.14670/HH-18-673. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a cancerous tumor that develops in the nasopharynx epithelium and typically has squamous differentiation. The squamous phenotype is evident in immunohistochemistry, with diffuse nuclear positivity for p63 and p40. Nonetheless, a few NPCs have been identified by clinicopathological diagnosis that do not exhibit the squamous phenotype; these NPCs are currently referred to as non-squamous immunophenotype nasopharyngeal carcinomas (NSNPCs). In a previous work, we have revealed similarities between the ...

Estradiol-mediated modulation of memory and of the underlying dendritic spine plasticity through the life span
Histol Histopathol. 2023 Nov 3:18672. doi: 10.14670/HH-18-672. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe morphophysiology of the nervous system changes and adapts in response to external environmental inputs and the experiences of individuals throughout their lives. Other changes in the organisms internal environment can also contribute to nervous system restructuring in the form of plastic changes that underlie its capacity to adapt to emerging psychophysiological conditions. These adaptive processes lead to subtle modifications of the organisms internal homeostasis which is closely related with the activity of chemical messenger...

WTAP enhances the instability of SYTL1 mRNA caused by YTHDF2 in bladder cancer
CONCLUSIONS: WTAP inhibited the anti-tumor response of NK cells to BCa cells by promoting the degradation of SYTL1 mRNA through YTHDF2-mediated m6A methylation.PMID:37933909 | DOI:10.14670/HH-18-671 (Source: Histology and Histopathology)
