Treatment of isolated zygomatic arch fractures with the  Gillies method
AbstractGillies method is widely used for zygomatic arch fractures. Many modifications were suggested over time but Gillies method is still carry on popularity. Seventeen patients with isolated zygomatic arch fractures  who were treated with Gillies method between 2016 and 2021 were included in this study. All patients were male and the mean age was 23 years (20–32). All operations were performed under sedation anesthesia. All patients healed uneventfully. Only one transient frontal branch of facial nerve para lysis was seen in the follow-up. Etiology of zygomatic arc fractures were sports injury in 9 patients (53%), ...

A V –Y fasciocutaneous flap for perineal reconstruction following abdominoperineal resection: quicker and better than a myocutaneous gluteal flap?
ConclusionsPost-operative complications are common after perineal reconstruction following abdominoperineal resection regardless of reconstructive approach. Our study confirms that both a fasciocutaneous and a musculocutaneous flap are acceptable options for perineal reconstruction.Level of evidence: Level III, risk/prognostic  study. Magnetic attachments and taping method for nipple-areolar prostheses retention: development of a method and case series
We report a method that uses magnetic attachments and taping (MAT) to fix nipple-areolar prostheses. A silicone nipple-areolar prostheses and skin attachment units were embedded with magnets; the latter was fixed to the skin using surgical paper tape. We attached the prostheses to our own forearms to compare the MAT method and the conventional silicone adhesive method in terms of attachment time tensile and retention strength (tensile and shear strength). We also requested patients without a nipple-areolar complex to try the MAT method and assessed their levels of satisfaction. The MAT and conventional methods were tested ...

Selecting a chest masculinization plastic surgeon: a survey of transgender patients
ConclusionsTransmasculine patients employ distinct criteria when selecting a chest masculinization gender-affirming plastic surgeon. An improved understanding of these factors informs providers of ways to enhance patient access to information and gender-affirming care.Level of evidence: Not gradable. Delayed prosthetic seroma: a localized inflammatory response to COVID vaccination and infection?
We present a patient whom we believe developed a late abdominal mesh collection in response to COVID-19 mRNA vaccination booster and COVID-19 infection. A polypropylene mesh was placed during her right breast reconstruction operation 2  years ago where she underwent a right transverse abdominis rectus muscle (TRAM) free flap. She recovered uneventfully from this operation. This lady, though vaccinated, developed respiratory symptoms and tested positive for COVID-19 infection 3 days after her booster injection. She then noticed r ight-sided abdominal swelling 3 days after the onset of respiratory symptoms. She only prese...

Diagonal upper gracilis (DUG) flap for autologous breast reconstruction: a case series
ConclusionsThe DUG flap is an improvement of the TUG flap, providing more tissue and easier donor site closure. This makes it a valuable option for breast reconstruction in women whose abdomen is not available as a donor site. In bilateral cases, it has the advantage over gluteal and lumbar flaps, that both breasts can be reconstructed in one procedure. Disadvantages include donor site problems and a high need for additional lipofilling procedures. Technical refinements of the procedure are being discussed.Level of evidence: Level IV, Therapeutic  study (Source: European Journal of Plastic Surgery)
