Treatment of retracted, postsurgical scars and reduction of locoregional edema using a combined three-dimensional approach of liposuction lipofilling, dissecting cannulas, and suspension sutures
ConclusionsThis study shows that the proposed technique is a safe minimally invasive alternative for the treatment of abdominal and inguinal retracted scars. The relatively high rate of minor complications is mainly due to the strict definition of the scale used. The results showed an improvement of local edema and high patient satisfaction.Level of evidence: Level IV, therapeutic (Source: European Journal of Plastic Surgery)

3D bioprinting in plastic and reconstructive surgery: current concepts, progress, and clinical application
ConclusionsTo this date, it has not been yet possible to bioprint whole tissue systems. However, the progress in three-dimensional bioprinting is rapid. There are still some challenges, which need to be overcome regarding cell survival before and during the printing process, continuation of architecture of bioprinted multilinear cells, and long-term stabilization and survival of complex tissues.Level of evidence: Not ratable. Early results and initial experience of reconstructing defects with NovoSorb ® Biodegradable Temporising Matrix (BTM): a UK case series
ConclusionsNovosorb can develop a healthy vascularised tissue bed for secondary skin grafting or spontaneous epithelialisation of a complex wound. It offers a safe and reliable reconstructive option in patients with complex wounds who are unfit for more complex surgery, prefer to avoid reconstruction, have had a failed reconstruction or have a non-graftable wound bed.Level of EvidenceLevel IV, therapeutic study. Enzymatic debridement of deep facial burns with Nexobrid ™: the Queen Victoria Hospital experience
ConclusionsFrom our experience at Queen Victoria Hospital, we observed good aesthetic and functional outcomes using Nexobrid ™ in deep facial burns. The process is safe and effective, and we hope that our contribution will encourage further research and practice in this field.Level of evidenceLevel IV, Therapeutic. Two separate subcutaneous pedicled flaps for repair of total umbilical defects: a simple reconstruction technique
We report an immediate reconstruction of the umbilicus using two different subcutaneous pedicled flaps from the lower abdomen, away from the umbilicus and the continuous cranial side. In this procedure, the caudal half to two-thirds of the umbilical fossa is reconstructed with a subcutaneous pedicled flap harvested from the lower abdomen, away from the defect. The rest of the cranial side is reconstructed with a subcutaneous pedicled V –Y advancement flap, continuous with the defect. From December 2016 to November 2018, three cases of umbilicus defects were reconstructed using this procedure. The deep umbilical fossa was...

Cross-leg free flaps and cross-leg vascular cable bridge flaps for lower limb salvage: experience before and after COVID-19
ConclusionsIn selected patients, CLFFs and CLVCBFs offer an optimal alternative for lower limb salvage using recipient vessels out of the zone of injury from the contralateral limb. Modification in the surgical protocols can decrease improve resource allocation in the setting of severely ill patients during COVID-19.Level of evidence: Level III, Therapeutic.
