Topical tacrolimus for allergic eye diseases
Purpose of review The spectrum of allergic eye diseases includes a variety of conditions, each characterized by complex immunopathologies. Antiallergic drugs, such as antihistamines and mast cell stabilizers, are often insufficient without concomitant topical corticosteroid treatment. Pathogenesis and complications of chronic eye rubbing in ocular allergy
Purpose of review To review the updated literature regarding eye rubbing complications and its association with ocular allergy disorders. Neurotrophic factors and nerve growth factor in ocular allergy
Purpose of review During allergic reaction, nervous and immune systems mutually interact through release of mediators, including neurotrophic factors and nerve growth factor (NGF). These mediators modulate allergic reaction through binding their receptors expressed by immune and structural cells and by stimulating neuropeptide release by nerves.
